Game may crash if the VFR Map is not opened right after starting the flight

Options, Assistance, User Experience, VFR Maps “ON”.

It is buried in there, for sure.

Update: An hour into a TBM 930 AP flight I had the VFR turned off for about 30 minutes. I turned it on from the top bar and I got a CTD from there.

VFR is another nice way of saying: Nope, nada, nein…

I work in IT and one of my favourite moments was when we were to deploy a software update, but it had a major bug in it. It was our recommendation to hold back until that bug is fixed. The Business said, “This version fixes more than it breaks. Push it out.”

btw:

*nope, nada, nein

Hi
From @MarkRWatney

Go to Options / Assistance / User experience
Sett "VFR panel opened at start. "

The VFR will be by default open when starting a flight. It will be fine to close it and re-open it.

Explanation from @MarkRWatney here.

Not when it is such a game impacting bug. He was`nt comparing Mario to msfs2020. Read it again and take your blinkers off.

Not a small issue. Really???

And your point is?

LOL! I can program but I can’t spell… Thanks for the lesson!

The VFR is barely useful. The GPS in the cockpit is much more useful and accurate. For me, it’s not a “game impacting bug.” Planes still fly, etc. so I’m happy.

What are “blinkers?” I don’t think that word means what you think it does.

I think he meant “blinders”.

Since the last update I have not completed one flight without a CTD when pressing Vmap. Pressing Vmap at the beginning of a flight and a few times during the flight usually works fine but eventually using it I get a CTD. I guess my MSFS flying days are now over until they fix the problem. Back to X-Plane -11! I hope we don’t have to wait another month before this problem is resolved. It would be durable if Pete Dawson’s auto save feature of FSUIPC4 could be made to work but he claims that a bug in MSFS prevents it from working.

On my system , once you have used the “V” map access, the assistance option is reset to OFF.

Isn’t that weird ?

I have done three flights now in the TBM, totaling 1500 ntm, using AP and had no issues. As long as I stay away from the VFR map then I am golden. I will be installing Little Navmap soon to give it a whirl. Its graphics resolution is so much better than MSFS’s is.

Like you, I agree, we need to give MS time to squash the bugs and then everyone will be happy. I do hope they improve the resolution of the VFR map though. It could be far better than it is right now.

i’ve disabled the ingame VFR map due to this issue and have switched over to using the map at FSHub.

I think this is a pefectly good use of the word. Blinkers were designed to give horses a limited view of the world, as in the web definition:

noun
plural noun: blinkers
British
a pair of small leather screens attached to a horse’s bridle to prevent it seeing sideways and behind and being startled.

Ha. I apologize. I am not British so that may be a partial excuse.

I do know what blinders are which is the second definition in my version of the web.

To me that means that means focusing on a single issue like a broken VFR and only able to see that. Am I close?

Not having blinders on makes it possible to see all the cool things that are working and have fun with those. That’s me. Also got 100+ stars in Mario 64.

Bahhhh! I’ve been using the VFR map with impunity - thought I was immune. Had my first ctd today during a really amazing storm flyby. :worried: Locked up when I clicked it and I knew… it finally happened.
