Have you tried a fresh download to a new folder? That’s what I had to resort to and it finally worked (uninstalled FS, deleted the folder and cached content that the old installer had downloaded, created a fresh folder, and reinstalled)
That sounds like it may be a corrupt file. Also had the issue (and I’d get a “please wait” prompt with CPU/GPU usage pegged). Try re-downloading to a fresh install folder.
Thanks to all for your advice. I can confirm that after 5 days of loading, stop/start/CTD - the most challenging installation I’ve ever done and hope never to have to go through that again - I have made it to the welcome screen. Now learning how to use the sim.
