MS Store Version
Ran the game a few days ago with no problems.
Now teh game will not launch.
When i click the game nothing happens, nothing opening task manager.
I ran some updatrs in windows store, restarted, tried launching from the Xbox App tried running as admin and tries empthing community folder and nothign works. Oh and ran repair in the programes and features.
Runnign windows 11.
Any other ideas?
+1 … had the same issue with the former sim update. Had to reinstall the game completely to get it working again.
yeah i think this gonna be the only optoin. my goodness this game is a nightmare sometimes
Did you try to sign out and back into MSstore and also Xbox app?
Did you update MSFS2020 in the MS store? That seems to be step one nowdays. Then launch the sim.
MS store is Microsoft thing and if it does not work, Google it. I had some issues with it today and took a while before I realised that there is a bell in upper right corner which lit a ball when my installation did not work, also Xbox app had similar thing. I found a fault and Reddit gave answer. Both MS store and Xbox app had to have same installation location, hope you find the answer
OK fellas I found the fix!
So after uninstalling make SURE you keep your old directory. REINSTALL.
When it asks you to install specify the same install path as the old one.
It should then skip the base file size and remember your old install, installing only the new updates required.
This worked for me completely! Hope this helps
Same issue here, but I already did 2 clean fresh installs and the sim still will not open ( I have the sim on Steam )
how do you keep the old directory when uninstalling
Mine didn’t delete itself automatically when I uninstalled but I would make a back up of folders first just in case. i only needed to put in my community addons after the reinstall, which I backed up.
I am stuck in a loop … all I get is a black screen for a few seconds then a message “the game is already running”
It was working perfectly a few weeks ago,
It wont seem to let me re-install either ,… I cant delete the .exe folder
I may have to do a Windows reinstall…
Did you check using task manager to see if it may actually have been still running?

yes… it comes up on Task manager for a couple of seconds then disappears

Community folder empty?
No addon linker in use?
No external sim apps running?
All windows updates installed?
