Gaming laptop specs

Should I wait for the series X version? I’m having a hard time being patient and I really want to play this game but it seems as though there are plenty issues. My wife needs a laptop so I’m giving her my MacBook and thinking of getting a gaming laptop to play this game on ( I know desktop is better value but I’m getting a series x). Do you think these specs can run it well? Should I just wait?

HP OMEN 15.6" Gaming Laptop - Black (Intel i7-10750H/1TB SSD/16GB RAM/GeForce RTX 2060)

Thanks for any feedback.

The ever-ending dilemma of waiting for new, better hardware, or buying current hardware  .

My rule of thumb is: wait 1 ‘upgrade’ when in doubt, never 2.

Welcome! That’s a killer laptop spec. It should do well. Perhaps the only suggested upgrade would be to 32GB RAM, if that’s possible.

And yes, you could wait forever for something better.

I’m not waiting to upgrade. I’m getting the series X. I just don’t know when it’s coming out for the system and I really want to play now! That’s why I’m getting the laptop just wondering if the specs will let me have a good experience.

At this point only 16gb available but those specs should do fine? My main question is is the game to buggy to enjoy and it’s better waiting for the series V version or are these specs and the game where it’s at now still enjoyable?

I totally misunderstood

Well, currently IMO it’s in ‘early access’ stage. If you want smooth gameplay I would wait at least a couple of patches before making your decision.

It depends. Many are having problems. I’m running MSFS on a laptop and a desktop (both with 16GB RAM), and apart from the documented inoperative features, everything else works fine. I haven’t had a CTD yet (knock on wood!) It is huge fun, and a great learning tool.

You pays your money, you takes your chances!

Should be fine on medium settings. Last 2 patches have reduced the memory footprint.

Only concern would be the vram on the 2060. 3gb model would require dropping some settings to low whereas the 6gb would be fine for me.

Yeah I’m just taking parental leave off work starting in November for two months and I want something to do while the baby is sleeping. I don’t think it’s going to be a series X launch date release so I’ll get that laptop and hopefully things run well. Can’t wait to try it out. Are your laptop specs similar to mine?

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 with dedicated 6GB of GDDR6 video memory can handle high-end games efficiently and render the visuals as they were intended

That what’s it says about the rtx 2060. Medium? So those specs can’t run the game on high?

Less. i7-8750, GTX1060, SSD, 16GB RAM. I generally use the desktop PC. It’s fun to plug the laptop into the 75" TV in the living room, though!

So it runs fine on your specs? Ok I should be ok then. D you play on medium or high? I plan on plugging the laptop into my 55 inch curved 4K tv. Looking forward to it.

Not for a smooth experience no. 32 gigs and a 2070 would be high.

For insight.

I have a 3600x amd and 5700xt and get 30 with a 5050 mix of ultra and high.

You may be able to push a few settings to high but not all.

Oh definitely not at 4k.

1080p yes 4k no.

4k is making some 2080 supers struggle.

Ah man. That’s a little disappointing. I appreciate the insight. I wonder when they game will release in series X. I can’t just keep waiting forever doesn’t seem like it will be a launch day title and they are being very vague.

Hi, and welcome…
I have long time hesitated between a gaming laptop vs desktop, and there is a solution in between !!
Have a look at MSI Trident, they fit in a laptop backpack, and have more space than a laptop should you wish to upgrade it later.
Still not as big and efficient as a desktop would be, but it is an excellent compromise between both laptop and desktop. You can fit bigger gpu’s with better cooling hence better graphic performances.
Have a look, it might suite your desideratas

I would imagine it will be a launch day game avail for Xbox x.

Just speculation. But the recent patch snafu may delay that

It depends on what you prioritize. I don’t mind frame rates as low as 15. It doesn’t impede a flight simulator, where things tend to happen slowly, in the way it would a fast-paced arcade game. I’d rather have the resolution and detail.

This is true as well. Good point. But even still a 16 gig system, 6gig 2060 is not going to push 4k at even those frames.

I have a 2020 Predator Helios 300:

10th Gen Intel, 16 GB RAM, and RTX 2060. I am running on Ultra with no issues. Major cities the FPS can go down to 20, but still looks pretty smooth. 1080p.
