I have very similar spec on my laptop, 1080p with a good mix of high/ultra.
I cap at 30fps for a very smooth experience but 45 is attainable should you wish.
Imo you would be settling for less on any upcoming console so its a thumbs up for me ![]()

Take those 2 guys word over mine as their specs are similar but note they are running 1080p, not 4k.
If you can manage without 4k you should be golden.
Funny you say that. Those are the two laptops I’m debating. The one you have is about 75 USD more but the specs are almost identical so going with the HP omen. I’m happy to hear your getting such an amazing experience with that. Looking forward to enjoy it. My question is what happens when you plug a laptop into a 4K tv. Does it downscale or does it try and the FPS drops?
So what happens if you plug into a 4K tv? Because I will want to play on my tv since the screen is bigger. Will it try 4K and have a hard time or will it just display the 1080p on the 4K and downscale?
Yeah you don’t need super fast FPS for a fligh sim I agree.
I feel they would have announced that by now.
you can output to whatever the display is capable of but will reduce fps as a result.
Its a question of performance vs visuals, the quest to find a happy medium!
I couldn’t be happier with my Predator. Got it in July and it’s awesome. No issues or crashes with MSFS and like I said, running on Ultra. System temps stay in high 60s. It has really good cooling and I also use a cooling pad. I never get temps above 70 on ANYTHING.
Depends on the settings within the TV and laptop. Some TV can upscale but running 1080p on a 4k TV you’ll lose alot of sharpness.
Same effect running say an old DVD on a 1080p TV.
Just not as sharp and a little blurry
Absolutely, a cooling pad is essential imo, it can never be too cool plus it will benefit performance and ultimately the lifetime of the device
i7 5.1 ghz ( undervolted to 4.0 ghz max )
17 inch
Gtx 2070 max-q ( the laptop version … do not think there is a desktop version in a laptop
)
32gb memory
1 TB ssd
And a cooling pad ![]()
I have around 40 fps in a mix ultra and high ( capped to 40 fps @ 1080 … to keep temp down and less noise )
Working like a charm. Fan noice is acceptable but hard now and then
Other games like elite dangerous no fan noice at all.
Undervolting helps a lot and better performance in the end and less fan noise.
You could use the resolution scaling slider in the sim to adjust for a manageable framerate at 4k. May be more efficient and look better.
awesome, im currently using throttlestop to undervolt and the benefits are undeniable - its easy to forget until i forget to start the program and very quickly realise haha
Problem with me is I’m a console gamer and not super tech savvy. So I need to do some research on what throttle stopping is, finding a cooling bad, monitoring temps etc…
Jup throttlestop ![]()
Manny guides to autostart throttlestop with task manager
Alsu use msi afterburner software to reduce ghz of videocard in games that can handle ( elite / cod warzone ) … but need full power in FS2020 ![]()
I just want something bigger than my laptop screen lol. Hopefully the FPS is decent at 4K. Excited!
Youtube is your friend … LOTS. Of easy guides
Ok I will cheque that out! Thank you.
Yup despite the succes of undervolting its not widely known i think. But really helps especially in game laptops.
Without this my laptop sounds like a space X launch ![]()
I’ll look into that for sure .
