The Garmin units in this game need some major work. I am a pilot IRL and have hundreds of hours of experience using the G430, G530, and G1000. To me this is currently the biggest limiting factor in the sim for flying true IFR.
Some issues I’ve noticed:
Lack of “Direct to” functionality
Usually when you hit the direct to button it will automatically load up whatever waypoint you currently have selected on your flight plan. Additionally when you are in the flight plan and have a specific waypoint highlighted and hit the direct button it will auto load that waypoint. Instead we have to manually type out the waypoint with the scroller.
Airport Information Page
This should automatically load the information for the final airport in the flight plan. Instead we have to manually enter the airport code.
Toggle synthetic vision
There should be an option to toggle Synth Vis on the PFD. Perhaps doing so would increase frame rate.
Airport Waypoint symbol
If your next waypoint is an airport, it is displayed with a triangle symbol on the MFD which is usually for NAV waypoints. Airports should be displayed as a circle with a crosshair.
Overall Appearance
The font and colors are not the same as the actual Garmin displays. This is a minor issue but it takes away from immersion.
Post any other issues you have noticed in this thread and hopefully it will gain some attention so the developers can see it. I understand they are busy with countless other issues but I think it’s necessary they get to these eventually to make this a better sim.
