GeForce driver 456.55 is out

Anyone tested it yet?

Yep. Didn’t notice a significant change, but that’s just a perception without a real test. And don’t do what I did and update the driver while simming. D’oh! A restart sorted it all out, though.

:joy: I see you like to live on the edge…

I’m cleaning my previous installation with DDU and will update in a moment. Not too hopeful but hey I’ll take any performance boosts.

I did try out Ultra 4K, and on a semi-demanding cloudy night scene I was getting 15 FPS, which I use as a minimum. So my perception is that it’s slightly faster. But that could have nothing to do with the new driver.

I think it was stated on the Nvidia website that it was optimization for COD warzone…

Oh yah and I did install it and noticed no differences on 1070 gtx that I noticed.

If you have a 3080 they definitely helped with my crash issues. Core clock more under control with these for sure. Was getting CTD in MFS and other games on previous drivers.

No problems, but no obvious improvement.

Full release notes.

This reminds me of AVSIM , every driver release was a thread of people trying to find Nemo! The release notes don’t mention an MSFS related improvements, it really benefits series 30x customers. It doesn’t break the sim, but no need to over-analyze this beyond the release notes!

No reason to bring clown fish into this…

In some ways, this forum is becoming a clone of AVSIM, for better or worse depending on your perspective.

Your finding Nemo comment is well versed though, as the focus of this driver is obviously on 3080 issues and support for those big AAA titles just around the corner. Still, if they’re stable with this sim then nothing lost.

I defer to those with more scientific tests, but my framerate seems higher than it was before.

(Maybe it’s a placebo, but I’ll take it!)

I disagree. A video driver could potentially degrade performance, cause CTD or other problems, so it’s worth asking and discussing, especially before a big MSFS update.

In any case, did you know you can filter out specific tags? Go to the forum preferences, tags and you can mute topics related to Nvidia, Geforce, driver updates, etc.

I hope that helps to prevent future annoyances.

Thanks Captain, I’ll be sure to use that forum feature.

I keep a spreadsheet since release with controlled test results. I did my usual Manhattan flyby and it’s dropping fewer frames under certain conditions and I gained an average of 1fps. GTX 1070 here – definitely not something I would notice during a normal flight but I’ll take it too. No crashes so far, seems to be a keeper.

No need to update then… I am already running 4K…on a 1080.i5…at near ULTRA settings…most of the time I have an acceptable frame rate…if it ain’t broke…don’t fix it!

All credit to Nvidia for keeping on knocking out these driver releases even if they are to correct issues. It’s one of the reasons so far that i’ve stuck with their GPUs.

That said, I never really see any difference with newer versions and if ‘it ain’t broke’ tend to stick with the same driver for a few months.

Its fine on my 2080ti, no probs but no discernable improvement either. Think its aimed at 30 series folks.

Yes I installed it this morning as soon as I started the computer. When I loaded the sim all my graphic settings had been altered. It was a nuisance instead of a 1440p monitor it was not even HD. I can’t remember the actual definition but it was about 700p. It looked worse than FSX full of jaggies and stutters, most of the sims graphic settings were on low or off. Because I didn’t want to waste time testing it I restarted the computer, put the definition back to the monitor’s and set everything to medium. There didn’t seem to be much wrong but I didn’t have any frame rate showing so I can’t comment on the effect. I will now have to go back and adjust everything next time. Including the the Nvidia settings.

Yes, I have my results here.

Were not going to be worrying about drivers for a while, most of us are going to Japan! :airplane: :jp:
