Anyone else having issues with the GF Experience suddenly? I didn’t used to have any problems using any of the hotkeys or bringing up the overlay, but now it seems with the last driver update, the overlay won’t stay up (causes flashing as the game and the overlay fight for supremacy) and sound glitches while its flashing. Also the hotkeys don’t work anymore.
Grab some popcorn, head to the Nvidia forums and read some of the comments: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/435761/geforce-46172-game-ready-driver-feedback-thread-re/
Any drivers after around 457.XX are completely broken and unless you need specific functionality that only more recent versions will give you (e.g. you own a 3060), roll back to a more stable release.
Micro-stutters in many games, latency, VR performance degradation, flickering in Chrome watching streams or resizing windows, flickering in games and other 3D apps, etc.
I am using 457.30 with my 2060 and it’s been very stable. Try rolling back and see if your flickering disappears.
My problem is that I keep getting logged out of my YouTube account regularly. It’s difficult to do livestream because everytime I want to start, I have to log in.
Even worse, sometimes it logs me out in the middle of a live broadcast. It just stops broadcasting, my youtube live broadcast is still “waiting for data”. And my Geforce experience just said I’m not logged into YouTube.
You should use 457.30, No need to update unless you have a new game that is optimised with the newer driver release.
461.40 works well for me. GTX 1660 TI
There are also security updates in those driver updates so there is reason to update. Id only recommend going to previous driver using the newest one possible if you have issue’s with the latest driver. Even just doing a fresh driver install can sort things out.
While a valid concern, I’ve never heard of any in-the-wild exploit of Nvidia driver vulnerabilities. All Nvidia drivers from Jan 2021 to date have been seriously broken and different people with different configurations report all sort of issues, from flickering in Chrome (me) to random black screens (me as well, thought it was my monitor going out), VR performance degradation, latency, dropped frames, etc. Like I mentioned above, it only takes a quick trip to the official Nvidia forums to realize how bad things are. People are even comparing the current drivers to AMD/ATI’s back in the day.
I almost feel bad for Asobo since a lot of the “bugs” that people report here can be attributed to broken drivers. I’ve even reinstalled Windows 10 and the issues persisted, so I doubt a DDU driver reinstall would fix much.
Figured out that the flashing and sporadic disfunction of hotkeys and overlay were being caused by having an interface window (like the ATC popup) moved to my other monitor. It didn’t do this in previous versions (MSFS or drivers, nor sure which), but I can avoid it by closing any popup window before I take a screenshot or open the overlay.
