In general, what causes these horizontal jagged lines? I have good graphics otherwise but these are visually problematic.
Hi, what is your Anti-Aliasing graphics setting on?
Also, the screen looks as if your rendering scale is below 100%. Those jaggies are noticeable even on TAA rendering at 80%.
I’ve tried a lot of combinations with everything on medium except clouds on ultra, targeting an average 30fps… running 2k native and then 85% of 2k in the sim and now having tried various things it seems that running 4k native and then 50% of 4k (HD) in the sim, that works also.
Generally speaking, I’m happy with the way my graphics look. I need to do a little “head wrapping” around upscaling, downscaling, anti-aliasing and such.
I use TAA. I don’t have an RTX card for DLSS.
Beware 50% on the 4K is really low and you might find cockpit instruments not clear enough. I once read that the optimal way is to set the resolution to the native resolution of your display screen to allow minimum input latency. Then you could downscale to improve performance. But I do agree sometimes 4K causes issues for some GPUs.
If you can manage to run the sim with the render scale set to at least 65% at 4k you will get much better results because 66.67% of 4k is equivelant to 1440p and this will greatly help with the jaggies
FWIW, in the end I find that running native 2k in Windows and the sim as well but downscaled 85%, that for my system (Asus G15 laptop) seems to be the sweet spot as far as visual clarity and fps goes. For example, I get 5 - 6 fps more running at 85% of 2k than I do running 50% of 4k.
All medium settings with the exception of clouds which I run ultra. 85% of 2k is as good as I can get I think. Maybe a killer system for 2024 if that pans out. Take care of it once and for all.
That’s because 50% of 4k is equivelant to 100% of 1080p (2k).
85% of 1080p (2k) is equal to 42.5% of 4k.
You might get less jaggies if you try lowering any sharpening you have switched on, however there is a balance to be made so everything doesn’t appear blurry.
