General SU5 Beta Feedback Thread

I´ve tried the latest beta and to be honest, I prefer to keep the stable version of the sim for now.
I have the Fenix A320 and the windscreen textures turned into a mess after updated to 1.7.17, then let´s wait for the final SU5.

Just flew an around 6 hour flight and all was peachy.

More PG weirdness. What’s with the strange squares along the shoreline at SBRJ with PG?

What’s with these cloud formations in world view. You can see how they’re attempting to form clouds using smaller puffs but they’re doing it using a geometric pattern that just doesn’t work as far as I’m concerned.

It’s not a SU5 bug - that’s just how clouds have always been rendered, even in MSFS 2020. Sometimes you can notice it more clearly during cruise: the cloud formations tend to arrange themselves in structured patterns radiating out from the aircraft.

An efficient corporate structure would delegate responsibilities where possible.

I’m be posted images like that many times. It’s so obvious what they are doing, and it never used to be like that. That’s probably why you don’t see those large clouds, with more random structure to them, like you used to. They build up cloud banks from lots of smaller clouds, and it looks a bit naff.

I’m pretty sure it’s not a cosmetic thing, in that it only appears like that on the map screen, but I think that in itself is worth retesting.

1.7.17.0 - Xbox series X. PG off. Live time and weather

Took the A20N from inibuilds Heathrow EGLL to RDPresets Geneva LSGG last night. Heathrow was pretty smooth with not much in the way of stutters when looking around. Approach into Geneva was fine aside from a couple of short loading pauses as I turned on to final. Also got a couple of loading pauses on the ground when taxiing but Geneva is quite a detailed airport

One thing I did have during the flight was the A20N was twitching around all over the place on the roll axis during turns. Checked the sensitivity settings to watch the control response and couldn’t see anything in there that could have been causing it. Anyone else getting this or do I need to look into it a bit deeper? Not been getting anything like that in the PMDG 737 or 777 on SU4. Hadn’t flown the A20N in a very long time

Also, they really need to fix the radio altimeter on the A20N. The callouts come too early compared to what is displayed on the PFD (calls 30 but PFD shows 40 for example) which in itself is also way out (PFD shows 0 when you are still at least 10ft in the air). Main gear should touch the ground at 0 and then settle to -2 when compressed. It worked on 2020. Make it work on 2024

Only with Live Weather! :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

When do we see some working fixes on AI Traffic?

  • Lights are still not visible during daytime
  • Lights are never on at arrival airports
  • Taxi and Pushback behavior is wrong

Same think for the multiplayers no traffic lights and only in area of 5 NM is visible the aircraft’s after that you don’t see no one !!!

Another short session with buttery performance! This is my SU5 release candidate, ship it!!

live weather is not working for me

I know you’re happy with it, but that doesn’t mean it applies to everyone. There’s obviously still many bugs present and smoothness is not on par with 2020 yet.

why would anyone even bother to use the default AI traffic. FSLTL is free …

I know, there’s plenty of issues. But since SU5 doesn’t really seem to be focusing on anything that interests me, other than performance, and this is the best performance I’ve seen, I say ship it.
Far smoother than 2020 has ever been for me BTW, except in many PG areas maybe. Absolute PERFORMANCE (fps) is probably still a fair bit worse (haven’t compared recently), but frame pacing smoothness is next level right now.

You really expect them to make major improvements like weather, ground texture quality, or other things in this SU5 cycle, which is clearly nearing its end? I’m waiting for a VR regression that makes most of my 3rd-party planes’ cockpit INOP when in the western hemisphere. Bug was logged before the last build but not fixed. So everyone has their things they want fixed, but clearly they can’t do it all at once.

Also, yes, obviously this is my personal experience. That’s what this thread is for. Naturally I am making no claim to speak for everyone. But I also think it’s nice to give positive feedback once in a while in a thread that is usually 85%+ negative (not saying that’s unjustified, just an observation).

Tried the return from Geneva to Heathrow in the A20N again. No weird twitchiness this time. Performance generally good though a bit stuttery at inibuilds Heathrow

One thing I’m finding with SU5 is that you can’t restart a flight at a large airport in PMDG aircraft without getting an out of warning message and then it just hangs on the loading screen

What’s you setup in particular headset and whether VD or other. I am 4090 Q3 MetaLink and unless ASW 72hz I don’t get smooth. VD gives me over sensitive cockpit. Also, I’d say PG causes me the odd “lag” type stutter SU5. But I very much agree with you that SU5 betas have definitely given us (VR) users a much better experience.

Big probably, because we don’t all fly jets!!! Does this F….L do GA?

Yes it does.
