As has been pointed out previously, if the two points are close to directly opposite each other all routes between them will be similar length. Doesn’t make any difference whether they’re on the equator or near the poles.
That’s why my example used locations 90 degrees of longitude apart. The difference between the equator and further north is very obvious.
