Getting astounding 45 fps in 4k at JFK post (possible) backend improvements!

Amazing improvement in performance, Asobo!

What patch?

Didn’t they patch already? I’m getting simply radically improved performance this morning in the A32NX. I assumed the patch had gone live.

The A32NX has a new master (developer) version this morning. Idk if you’re using it.
But MSFS is not updated yet.

I’m using the previous master, so it’s not that. 45fps at JFK is just not a thing for me in native 4k. So, not sure what is different if the patch hasn’t rolled out yet?

Just to add, I usually run the sim at elevated priority, and I’m not even doing that!

Maybe that’s why you’re getting better frames ; )

hah! I hope that’s not it.

Some people have reported that setting to high priority actually reduces performance. Just a rumour, no hard evidence

Yeah, I’ve seen that. But, for my rig, I can usually squeeze a few more fps with it on High. But I haven’t done that today - yet. I just assumed it was patch day and I got it already. When I flew into JFK yesterday, it was the normal sub-20s with regular spikes and dropped frames. Today it’s like I’m using a whole new system or something.

Possible that server capacity is being elevated to support the patch coming later today that might be helping? I’m also sure that they did release server side improvements where possible slightly ahead of the patch release itself. For example prior to patch 2 Azure ATC started to work and was only listed as officially fixed in patch 2

You may be onto something, gordongreig

Well, since yesterday I feel MSFS running much smoother. I thought there might be some improvements on their backend side.

Wouldn’t we all like some improvements to our backends?

My backend has already been upgraded so all fine here.

But in all seriousness, I sometimes have sessions where I’m getting 10fps more than usual, then other days its much worse (flying same planes, same area) only difference is weather which of course will impact performance. Other things to consider are the current loads on Asobos server and your internet connection which will also impact FPS.

I always fly the A32NX, and almost always from and to the same destinations, so I’m acutely aware of any changes in performance with the aircraft and the sim.

But, as you say, the Azure stuff getting some attention might just be the reason for my improved experience; I just landed at KBOS with almost steady 55fps - just amazing the difference from 24 hours ago!

I don’t mean to sound…well, mean, but if you don’t know whether your sim has been patched or not, how can we be certain of your testing methodology?

I appreciate your politeness.

I am using the FPS in DEV mode to gauge the difference in performance (besides the fact that overall, the sim is just more responsive in various ways which is quite noticeable). Along with Speccy and cpuz to measure core temps and thread counts and general performance of my rig.

I noticed the version in the MS store, but I don’t really trust the whole MS ecosystem for windows apps; so not sure if that version is different or not - as I mentioned, I assumed the patch had gone live. :+1:t2:

It’s not released as far as I know, and it would be impossible to miss this. If you launch the MS Store, and run a check for updates, it would find one.

Even if you don’t do this, when launch MSFS it will tell you there is an update, tell you to run the MS Store first, and download that update. All three previous patches have done this, and it would be impossible to patch the sim without following this process, at least for MS Store versions.

For Steam, I don’t know.

Agreed. My son was using my pc last night to fly a bit, so thought perhaps it had already dropped.

Either way, my point is that something changed and performance has radically improved for me, literally overnight. Just wanted to point that out and see what others were experiencing.
