Gladiator Joystick Rudder Control Not Functioning

I use a VKB Gladiator MKII joystick which has a twist rudder control. The device works fine for controlling the rudder when flying X-Plane 11. However, with MSFS2020 the rudder commands snaps only a full right or full left rudder which renders the rudder unusable in flight or on the ground. The same problem exists with rudder trim commands. I have tried to adjust the joystick sensitivity for the rudder axis, but get the same result even with extreme sensitivity settings. The device test under Windows game controllers shows the rudder twist axis to be working properly, and I have also calibrated the joystick. All other flight controls and buttons on this joystick work fine, and I am very happy with it except this issue. I have all the recent software MSFS2020 updates installed. Any ideas how to resolve this rudder issue?

I have the same problem with my Thrustmaster rudder pedals and have tried the same solutions. It’s really maddening. With X-Plane, everything works fine, but not with MSFS. It had been working prior to the first of the recent 2 updates, but something changed for the worse. I hope they recognize the problem and fix it soon.

So it is most likely a software problem with MSFS. I have seen others mention it for rudder pedals, but not so much with the twist on joysticks. I have the same problem using the keyboard, but who wants to use a keyboard for rudders anyway.

Have you bound the rudder to an axis…

Thank you for your interest and reply. Yes, the rudder is bound to the twist axis of the joystick. However, with the slightest twisting action, the control response is instant full rudder (right or left) whereas the other flight controls have a smooth, gradual response. And, the sensitivity settings have no affect on the rudder axis. I thought this might be a joystick problem, but I get the same response when binding keyboard entries to the rudder. Turning Rudder Assist on or off does not affect the situation either.

RESOLVED! For whatever reason the simulator lost all the settings for the joystick. i.e. all bindings were lost, gone…whatever. After reprogramming all the bindings, the rudder twist control of the joystick now works properly along with all the other controls. I am not aware of a “reset” procedure and wonder what I did accidently to put me through this process and make it work. Very happy after several weeks of being puzzled by the situation. Maybe someone else can explain it? Possibly setting up a new profile for the joystick would have worked also?

Not works me.
