Glass Cockpit display performance after Sim Update 5?

So if I understand correctly, the glass cockpit avionics are being moved to a separate thread (core?) with Sim Update 5. Mainly, this means better rendering performance for the main graphics, but conversely, this should also mean I can turn the refresh rate of the avionics displays back to high as well, right?

Time will tell… :sunglasses:
Those who know are probably not allowed to.

Yh i think so too and hopefully get rid of the tiny stutters too.

What I am more curious about is whether the FPS penalty for popping out the PFD and moving it to a separate monitor will be improved

Let’s all pray that it does just that, I have the settings on the edge! when I pop out the PFD I can go from 24 to 12 fps instantly. ( set at Medium )
I have made quite a few flight videos and saved them so I can repeat the journeys and see if it has worked. Hopefully, it will give my CPU something to do!

I haven’t checked my settings lately I just put them where I think would be best for me, so I can’t alter any until the update is installed.

Last flight Steward to Newark

GPU temp 58° GPU Usage average 60% FPS 24-35 ( mostly 24 )

CPU temp 62° CPU Usage 25% ( rarely goes above 30% )

I should give my GPU something more to do, it was in the 85% region before the last update.

Yea same here

I surely hope so cause yesterday i was flying with 32X in Nice-France-Cote D’Azur and the FPS were terrible during approach and go around

I hope so, but not hopeful that it will. However, if we’re getting an extra 20 fps in the sim, that penalty won’t be felt quite as badly.

I really don’t think they’ll address that until they get to adding multi-monitor support. It’s technically NOT multi-monitor (it’s viewports / windows), but I have a feeling that performance issue for multiple viewports will be addressed when they address multiple monitors.

Yea yes I got you

This is a true statement. No screenshots, depictions, descriptions, hints, clues, or even breadcrumbs are allowed outside the beta forums without express consent from “the powers that be.”

Unknown yet. It could also enhance performance of both, because there would be no context switches needed. One CPU core could be assigned (and dedicated !) for the cockpit display and e.g. 5 cores may be active for the scenery outside, 2 cores for simulation. MSFS does not publish such details… alas…
