He Henrik .. question.

As I told before I use the add-on manager. Works perfect but still I get that 2nd folder generated in my community folder. IF I am understanding correctly the initial folder are just compressed ship files … and the newly generate folder only the ships you encountered are unpacked there right ?

Is it somehow possible we get everything in one folder so we can use it with the add-on manager ? So the unpacked ships are in the same initial folder or something like that ? Since add-on linker is “fake linking” the initial folder into the community folder … that is also where the 2nd folder will be generated. If we have just one folder that can completely be " linked "

OR … can we somehow completely unpack the initial folder so I can remove it and only use the 2nd folder with add on manager ( if yes how big would it be approx ? )

The CVT folder doesn’t include a real converted file so unfortunately it won’t work… else it would have been an easy way to get over the conversion… But I am afraid there is just one way to get that conversion done and that is ship by ship. I am trying to get that process in order now, but it is a long process due to the size of this project, and I need to go back to the original source files to recreate PBR textures etc… But it will be nice.

It is not more then some time to move a folder if needed. But would be nice because i must say addon linker is super

Can’t you just remove this project from addon linker and put it in the community folder with a direct installation? Would that make any kind of conflict? So far my direct installation survived all Asobo updates since I put the first test version in my community folder back in November…

Jup that is perfectly possible and what i am doing. Like i said no big issue

I just want to keep my addon folder as empty as possible ( to reduce loading times mostly but also stability)

When i fly from EHAM to Vienna there is no need to have a few GB of ship folders. So would be nice to just remove the checkmark in addon linker and i have just the CRJ en Vienna airport loaded.

When flying from EHAM to ENBR … i switch on : CRJ / ENBR / North sea oil rigs / and your great addon.

Again it is no big issue ( especially if it is a ton of work for you )

I just leave the extra folder in the C/F, it’s not large enough to worry about. But then I usually load the ships in anyway most trips.

A really superb addon. I was totally flabbergasted when I saw a Eckerö line ferry with the correct liveries and right in the spot where it should be when I was zipping all along near the shipping lanes.

I did look if I could find enough good documentation to make the Ever Given, still not there, but yes, it could be fun…

Well, for some reason I am unable to see the traffic in LittleNavMap. It shows in the sim but not on the map. Any advice? Thanks!

Where in the sim are you seeing the traffic? Apart from visually sighting the ships I don’t recall the sim itself showing positions. I always find it in LNM.
Maybe you are confusing existing in-sim scenes with the new traffic?

Did you enable the boat icon in the menu bar in LittleNavMap?

No, I meant the visual sightings. I think Henrik may have solved the mystery.

Ahhh! I did not realize there was a boat icon. That did it. Thank you!!!

Henrik is there anything we can do to help you convert the models over to the new format? Is it an idiot-proof process or is a lot of skill/knowledge involved?

Thanks for the offer  Highly appreciated, but unfortunately it is not an easy process… I need to start in Photoshop changing the textures to PBR creating new layers, create a new emissive texture for improved night illumination, go back to the source models move them from GMAX to Blender add hard decks, edit materials, add lights and finally convert to .gltf - hopefully some time during the time this will take we will get clarity regards to wakes and smoke effects and then that needs to be added.
I might take some short cuts with some models - but for at least half the models I will go the full road. The small detail with the emissive texture is one of the things which annoys me the most with the current version as white ships turn greyish due to MSFS mixing the original day and night textures in the conversion as seen on the two screenshots below
