All _CVT folders show up as ‘uninstalled’ for any addons that has converted FSX stuff. The addon should still work, it works for me.
I didn’t think that I would spend my holiday in Brazil under a blanket modelling on the laptop because of the weather…
hi - if you still have the ship there, could you try to shoot it from a different angle - apart from textures the model also looks messed up so I can’t even recognize if it is mine.
However, one observation - the problem of ships in airports has been seen before by Knud from my team - also before SU5 - he comments that if you under General Settings select AI from Generic Models then the Sim takes whatever AI model and uses it as an airplane… It was noted in a post a few days back - see above - with default ships, but if the above is my ship then it apparently also steals AI from community folders…
P3D at a point sent AI ships flying so I guess we will also find a solution to this one
Hello Mr Nielsen,
Are you saying that Global AI Ship Traffic replaces also the yachts, sailboats and fishing boats and all the small boats in general? I thought it was just about ferries and tankers, and was about to buy the Seafront AI Addon (the one that replaces only small boats).
Can you confirm that ? Does that mean your addon is the same thing than the 2 addons from Seafront ? (with regionalized models and without wakes ?
Also, the other day I was on the Pacific entrance of the Suez Canal and didn’t see any traffic using your Addon. Is it just me or is it an issue you are aware of?
Thank you for your work, keep it up!
Michael
You have much more varied ships in Global AI Ship Traffic and many, many more different models. You have everything from fishing boats, oil rigs, cruise ships, and yachts to aircraft carriers - you will have the main units from the navies of the United Kingdom, Spain, Australia, China, Norway, Denmark, France and more - some from the US but not that many as they in P3D and FSX were covered by other developers so never a focus for me. And everything is localized… so the ferries are the real ferries - in August it will e.g. be New York which will get the ferry treatment.
With Seafront you will have more ships appearing and they have wakes but it is unfortunately repetitions of a few models and very generic. The wakes will be added starting from next month to the Global AI Ship Traffic as per above indicated development plan.
If you didn’t see any traffic near Suez it can be a question of MSFS not being very stable when it comes to the AI engine - I think it will be better now the models are getting updated to native format, because I have not seen the same issue with the models I already converted to native format.
You will soon not be able to feel that New York is left out… I found a treasure of drawings of different New York ferries and they are small and simple so modelling goes fast… Should be able to add at least 20 ferries to routes across the New York area and out to Rockaway
Question. When do I have to update my community folder? I have had this installed since back in March and I have never redownloaded from FLIGHTSIM.to.
Hi - there has only been one version for MSFS so far, so you have the right one installed. In August there will be an extra pack with native ships, but you don’t need to uninstall the present package. The only motive to uninstall is if you want to do it in connection with simupdates as recommended by Asobo - in that case you need to remove both the GLobal AI Ship Traffic folder and the CVT folder associated with the project - and then reinstall both. If you forget the CVT folder eventual stutters from conversion will reappear.
I see, so remove to cure the stutters for now?
nooo… don’t remove… you have the right package installed
I’ve never had any stutter with this mod until this update. Now it is definitely causing some long stutters for me. I’ve had to remove it unfortunately.
What I don’t understand, if I set all my boats sliders to 6% like instructed, I barely see any sail boats. I was in the Carribeans today and nothing. IRL it’s full of sail boats and yachts…
So maybe the 6% are only for ferries and big ships ?
Personal Comments:
One consideration people may not have gleaned, but it was one of the first things I asked Seafront - what slider settings do you need to get their advertised ship activity? 60-100 percent.
Henrik only needs 5 on each slider for marine traffic types to get accurate traffic levels and routes. For me who has a low end rig (and I finally got all the eye candy I need with SU5 improvements), I am still watching my System Load budget like a hawk. The answer is simple. Stick with Henrik. And I love the accurate and varied ship types. Great work as always.
See my post just above
I have accurate traffic in the Carrib. There is a mix of commercial and private ships. I regularly torture myself trying to land safely at TFFJ and pretend to sand blast the tourists at Juliana. Never had a problem with traffic levels.
You have in MSFS and also P3D/FSX two types of “boats” or “ships” which are adjusted in different ways. “Leisure boats” and “Ships and Ferries”. “Leisure boats” spawns while “Ships and Ferries” follows predetermined routes.
The Global AI Ship Traffic is regulated in “Ship and Ferries”. It does include sail boats but mostly larger ones like Tall Ships, Volvo Ocean Race sailboats, some classic sail boats etc which sails on predetermined routes. There are also a few small private sailboats, but only on routes in a limited number of areas. So if you put “Ships and Ferries” at 6% and “Leisure Boats” at 0% you will only see very few small sailboats.
As mentioned Leisure boats in MSFS are programmed to spawn near cities and they do not follow routes.
This means that you can put the sliders for Leisure Boats at 100% - that will not interfere with Global AI Ship Traffic which is regulated by Ships and Ferries. As the Leisure Boats spawns instead of following routes they are also very performance friendly, so you can even at a low end rig move the leisure boat slider up without worries.
Moving the Ships and Ferries beyound the 6% however means that you will get the same big default ships repeated all over the Globe - and that also goes if you purchase the Enhanced AI as I can read on Avsim this morning that it just replaces the 14 default ships. Even with the Global Shipping product you only get 5 more ships, so basically as I mentioned previously in a couple of posts - these products can increase your density of ships, but not the diversity as all in all they just contain 19 ship models compared to 1300 in the Global AI Ship Traffic…
Some of the smaller boats included in GLobal AI Ship Traffic - the start of the Volvo Ocean Race near Cardiff - Screenshot from P3D as I am far from my MSFS computer.
19 ships?.. Would have expected a bit more from seafront.
This addon looks great - is it coming to the xbox edition through the marketplace in the future? Would love to buy this on my xbox… my waterways are kinda empty!
yes, bascially you can take 14 of the nicest freeware ships and replace the ugly default ships and you have the “Enhanced AI” - however I would wait doing that until we launch the native models. But I have done that previously in both FSX and P3D in my own setup - I don’t like to interfere with default on other peoples set-up as it has a risk when updates are rolled out, so I never recommended this solution.
