GNS Flight Plan Issue

Having a problem with the default GNS 430 - it will calculate a phantom point in the route which can be thousands of miles away e.g. KPDX - BTG is a distance of 10nm, but it calculated as over 6000 by my sim, despite being drawn correctly in both the GNS and the flight planner (see pictures). The same will occur even if plotting a ‘direct GPS’ route, although the erroneous distance will always be of a different value. This occurs with all default aircraft using the GNS and also the PMDG DC6, including with their provided tutorial flight plan.

I have reverted to a completely fresh install of MSFS, updated to the latest version and with nothing in my community folder. Also, I have removed all traced of Navigraph that I can find on my system, incase that was somehow causing a conflict.

Totally lost with this problem, given I seem to be the only one seeing the issue, which renders my GPS completely useless as well as causing significant performance degradation which is directly comparable with the distance of the bugged flight plans.

Any ideas?

Sounds like the UTF-8 bug, see if this helps;

In Windows 10 Control Panel → Region → Administrative Tab-> Change System Locale…
Turn off: “Beta: Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support
Reboot PC

You are an absolute Wizard! That’s solved the problem.

Incredible that zendesk couldn’t have told me that over a week ago. Also incredible that a bug from August last year still hasn’t been fixed!

Thanks so much mate
