GNS430 question

Dumb question time…

I recently noticed that the range indication on the GNS430 in my A2A Aerostar has a “-2” after the range indication: see the “5nm -2” text in the red square in the following image:

I do not have it on any other GNS430 and I only noticed it in the Aerostar a couple of days ago after fiddling with settings on the device. I suspect this is quite possibly of my own doing, but I have not seen anywhere that I could undo it. Any suggestions from the wise forum population please?

Thanks!

I believe that’s the declutter level. The “-“ is just a separation mark.
In the actual unit you press the “CLR” button momentarily to select the various levels. Not sure if that button is used in the sim version.
Regards

Thanks for this. I have shut my computer down for the night but I will check this tomorrow

Yes it’s the declutter level.

That is very helpful, thanks very much. From which document is the extract that you posted? Seems like a good reference.

Here you go. You may find some slight differences with what is simulated…

@Habu2u2 and @Maki152 Thanks very much guys, I wish I could mark both your posts as the solution as that which cleared it up for me. I could even figure out how it happened. If you long press the Clr button it goes to my preferred nav display. What I did was to let go of the Clr button before it toggled the display, so the GPS obviously interpreted the press as a normal selection press and changed the level of detail.

So while I want to thank you both, I think I will mark @Maki152’s response as the solution as it provides a tad more information for anybody having the same issue in the future.

And to me this experience was again a reminder of the value and benefits of the forum. I tend to sometimes get a bit frustrated with some of the forum content, but for topics like this it is just brilliant.
