Temporarily anyway. UK, we’re moving in a couple of weeks from a house with full fibre at 500mbs to a house with the services as below.
House we’re moving in to is on the build path to have full fibre by the end of the year so guess we’ll hang out til then.
Starlink could be an option however cost is not competitive at the moment.
So a reinstall of 2020 is the plan before we move and see how/if 2024 works when we move.
Broadband speeds
We predict you’ll get the following speeds:
Your estimated download speed: 18-28 Mbps
Your estimated upload speed: 1-2 Mbps
Your Stay Fast download speed: 14 Mbps
Your broadband technology type will be: Part Fibre broadband.
I feel with you and others in the same situation. Low and slow and unstable connection. Add to that - extremely expensive. I live in DK and have a 5G internet connection for the last 6 to 8 years. It runs fast (800/400 Mbs and rock stable). Cost is GBP 33.90 per month. I think that is an offer hard to beat.
Starlink is 40 pounds a month, is extremely stable, and offers 100 Mbps. Now I can’t look into your wallet but it seems by far the best option. 5G often comes with limits that Starlink does not have.
We may come to that yet, we need to move in and see how things actually work out. We do have a lot of household streaming devices which will probably be severely compromised with the likely connection speed.
We do have confirmation of full fibre build out, ‘probably by the end of the year’..
With Starlink being available on a month by month basis too it’s not high risk. We did have it at a holiday rental in the Outer Hebrides and were impressed by the performance.
I played for a year or so on 5G with 300-400 Mbps and it was fine. We finally got 600 Mbps fiber a few months back and to be honest, I don’t really notice any difference.
My son, who mostly plays shooters, notices an improvement but I don’t with the slower paced games I play like MSFS and WoT.
Unfortunate, but only 6 months. There’s nothing wrong with 2020, you could also trial xp12 and see how it runs.
Good luck with whatever you do, I’m sure it will work out.
We moved, the result is below, Starlink equipment arrives tomorrow..
