It remains to be seen if the 3090 is worth it. All we have is leaks and rumors, but the latest such leaks show an improvement of just 5-11% over the 3080, for about twice the price.

That does sound exceptionally bad though, so I’m rather doubtful about whether it’s correct.

Yeah I wouldn’t get the 3090 for gaming

have to see, for vr 24 gb is a must , the 3080 is getting nearly maxed out on her vram with render scale at 200, and since im doin 3d it’ll be great

Keep in mind that high VRAM allocation doesn’t mean you’re running out of VRAM though. When you run out you get massively low FPS and/or decent FPS with in bursts with major stuttering in between.
Many games use as much VRAM as you give them, or as much as makes sense, to enhance performance.

It’s similar as to how I’m currently using a total of 47.9 GB of RAM, but if I had a 24 GB machine I would still be a bit below 100% RAM usage, as >24 GB is cached data that can be freed easily.

Why on earth would you want 200 render scale? That’s doubling the resolution.

because its beautiful

Turn up the sharpening and clarity in an Nvidia filter for the same effect without killing the FPS

I have been watching a lot of reviews on them and from what I can gather the 3090 will for sure be better, it just won’t be in line with the price point. As in it won’t be twice as good compared to it being twice the price. But then that is never the case with the top teir cards. If you want the best of the best they charge a premium for it.

I think the steal in this line up is going to be the 3070 for a price to performance standard compared to the old cards.

Also keep in mind just dropping a 3080 in something is not going to be a cure all for every situation. It seems they are pretty easy to bottle neck. Like say if you are running in 1080p and/or on an older cpu you really are not going to see a lot out of it. And from what I have seen the PCIe gen 4 thing has no effect at all so don’t even worry about that.

Guys sry for off topic but give advice,

where I need set Vsync, in FS or on Nvidia panel? Is anything other needed to enable/disable due this tests?

@Aeluwas You are probably correct especially at 2K, but with that said, there was a big question as to why Digital Foundry was paid by Nvidia to benchmark specific games for 3080 prior to launch and did Battlefield 5 with ray tracing OFF. It puzzled me as why OFF? Another Youtuber figured out it was because, Battlefield 5 @4K Ultra and RT-ON, it exceeded 10 gig Vram on the 3080. Hmm, how close it the 10gig coming to MSFS at 4K ultra and if they start adding it in the future? Its got me thinking on 3090 or waiting till the 3080 20gig version is released just to be safe and future proof.

why 1440p why not in 4k
