GPU side CTD when starting another application in background [v1.4.18.0]

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

I encountered a CTD multiple times now whenever I:

  • Started an instance of Google Chrome
  • Took a screenshot using Win + Shift + S

Error bucket ID 2058784810070215161, Typ 5

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Each time I try to take a screenshot using Win + Shift + S OR whenever I try to start a Google Chrome instance

  2. Select any aircraft for free flight
  3. Try to take a screenshot using Win + Shift + S while still in menu
  4. Crash may occur

Sim settings: Frame Generation on (2x), TAA, TLOD 250, OLOD 150 and a mix of “Ultra” and “High” settings

• I haven’t been getting that error message, but if i open my chrome browser the sound starts stuttering and shortly thereafter the sim just stops working and I have to close it through task manager.
This is with the current version of chrome, 4090 GPU, and Nvidia driver 576.28.

UPDATE: Currently, after shutting down the PC and starting this morning I can no longer reproduce the issue. I’ll continue monitoring.

Unfortunately, I gave it another try after starting up today, and still have the issue. Double checked that chrome was up to date, as is the video driver, etc. So no idea what’s up with that. It’s a shame, since I normally run chrome in the background when I’m troubleshooting issues here in the forum and have never had issues before the latest beta.
Thanks for your update. I’ll keep trying to troubleshoot and see if I stumble across something.

P.S. Also tried it with MS Edge and got the same results.

Apparently this issue has also been noticed by some players in E:D running Windows 11 24H2. So not just limited to MSFS.
