Gran Caravan 208 ILS approach

I just flew my bone stock 208 from PHNL to PHOG and used the ILS to fly the approach with no issues.

As I mentioned before, please search for NXI, not Garmin.

Search content manager for these two files by using “NXi” in the search box.

If you have the one with the red check, then you have the current NXi. The other file is only used in rare (maybe none anymore!) situations where a third-party aircraft is using the old NXi before it was updated last year.

There are a few approaches I’ve run into that if you don’t have the “APR” button pressed early enough you might be slightly above the GS, and it won’t engage.
In addition to anything in the community folder (which I know you’ve emptied a few times), do you have any external programs connecting to MSFS? Sometimes programs that connect to the sim as an outside program can also affect the sim. The fact that you’re not getting the GS indicator in either white or green concerns me, as the NXi has been very good at doing ILS approaches for most of us. Unfortunately, I don’t believe you can delete just the NXi and reinstall it. I do think you can delete the 208, and then shut down the sim, and restart it. I believe the 208 should reinstall (or tell you to reinstall it from content manager) after the restart. That might work, and it’s easier and safer than doing a full re-install of the sim. Make sure you delete the 208 and not one of the skins (although you can reload those if you need to do it).

Regards

I just flew too the Gran Caravan 208 from PHNL to PHOG and used the ILS approach (RWY 2) with the same result as usual with the Gran Caravan: could not intercept the glideslope with the approach turned on.

Hi, Community folder is empty.
Everything that is available under WORKING has been installed, including Garmin 1000 NXi version 1.2.7

Hi,
I do have the NXI installed (version 1.2.7)
Community folder is empty
To my knowledge, no external programs is connected to MSFS
I deleted the 208, shut down the sim, and reinstalled the Gran Caravan 208
Same results The GS is not picked up and doesn’t appear on the screen

Coming into PHOG Rwy 2, make sure you pass the wind farm at about 2,000’ to make sure you’re below the glideslope. I like to use the Lanai VOR as a waypoint. Cross that at around 8,000 and then descend at about 1,000-1,200 FPM as you start a left turn to about 60° or so to stay just over the water. That course, at about 2,000’ should let you lock onto the localizer well below the glideslope.

Well this issue is starting to cheese me off!!
I got a suggestion from someone else (not directly related to this plane, but similar).
Do you have any add-on liveries that were bought from the MS Store? Those liveries will be in your regular folder (not the community folder), and have caused issues with other planes.
I’m really grasping at straws here, but we’re starting to run into a brick wall with this issue.
One last thing, the next time you’re trying an ILS approach in this plane, could you press the “APR” before you get to the IAP, and then take a screenshot?

Regards

No add-on liveries were bought.
But it looks like the problem has been solved!
Before clicking on MSFS2020:
I deleted the Content.xml file
I deletd the .dat files located in the scenery folder
Then I tried to open MSFS2020 but it ‘‘suggested’’ to perform an update (7.5Gb)
So I did
Then I went back to my test flight and proceeded as usual.
I pressed the APR the second i crossed the IAF and the GS (white) appeared!
It locked on it a minute later (green)
Eureka!
I guess the update helped
Thanks again for your support and inputs
It’s appreciated

That’s Great that it finally worked out. Maybe SU14 fixed a file somewhere! But in any case, it’s always more fun when the plane flies right!

I am having the same issue but cant seem to fix it or follow your fix?

I found this thread when I was looking for same issue on msfs 2024 - maybe my fix will work as well - apparently, every time I need to set up reference glide speed - it seems that helped, I’m able to get GS->GP working. (on MFD, under tmr/ref)
Never had to do it on Cessna 172.
