Graphics option changes for SU6 - Suggestion for expanded options

Hi there. I’m not in the SU6 beta test group but I was hoping I might get some traction with the folks that are in the test and even better, get some traction with MS and/or Asobo.

I see in the release notes for SU6 that the LOD sliders will now go up to 400 (the equivalent of 4.0 in the UserCfg.opt file). This is an awesome development for those of us with hardware that can handle it. Truly appreciate the attention being given to the user feedback on this!!!

What I’d ask is that we could push it a bit further on the GUI sliders. I’m currently using 5.5 for both Terrain LOD and Objects LOD by manually modifying the UserCfg.opt file. I came upon this value through testing and found that 5.0 still had some slight pop-in of objects and terrain at a distance that was still noticeable. When I went to 5.5, I couldn’t see pop-in any longer. So, can the sliders’ max value be increased to 550? Or maybe something higher than the 400 that’s proposed for SU6? That would be awesome!

And while we’re at it, there’s a few more options in the UserCfg.opt file that I’ve found to be quite useful and they aren’t options in the graphics menu of the GUI. Here’s a screenshot below of the relevant parts of my edited UserCfg.opt file that I’m using with the key changes highlighted in red. If we could get some radio toggle buttons on the graphics page for Sharpen, Fringe, FilmGrain and Vignette, along with the LOD ranges mentioned above, I wouldn’t have to resort to manually adjusting the file and being careful to not visit that page in the GUI. It would greatly enhance the user experience, at least for this user! I don’t need fake film grain, sharpening, lens fringe and vignette in my sim experience. I can see the value for folks that are taking screenshots for photography reasons but I shouldn’t have to modify a config file to remove these.

Oh Microsoft and Asobo, please hear our plea.

Thanks for reading this far!
