Ground Aircraft Type

I think the answer is “no”, but is there a way to control the type of static aircraft placed by MSFS on the “apron” of an airport? I fly at a local airport that is mostly SEL. MSFS puts new larger twin’s all over the place, when it is really mostly SEL aircraft 1945-1985. I create videos out of this airport so would like it to be more realistic.

The addon maker who fleshed out this airport can put aircraft around the apron, but when using Replay, upon playback the planes he placed are sunk up to their props. When hitting stop on playback the planes pop back up to ground lever. The author thinks is because of bugs in the SDK he was forced to make elevation changes (Asobo’s was wavy when it really is not). Why it only happens when doing a Replay playback is unknown. For now the work-around is to remove the “realistic” planes he placed. Unfortunately MSFS likes to replace them with wrong types for this small town local airport. I need to use Replay to successfully create the videos (please don’t tell me to use a 3rd party replay – I own several and they are all harder to use and take more cpu cycles and have less flexibility/usability than the Asobo replay).

Thanks!

Let me preface my answer with “this is the way I do it” but you will probably get answers better than mine. In my experience, the only way to truly control what aircraft is placed at an airport is to use Airport Design Editor to delete the parking spots, then use the SDK (if you have the aircraft you want available in your Community folder) to then place those aircraft in those vacated areas.

If you just place the aircraft using the SDK but don’t get rid of the spaces, then MSFS will still park aircraft there, so you’ll end up with planes on top of planes. There may be a way to designate a specific type of parking spot using ADE or the SDK that will keep the parking spot empty, but I haven’t seen that.

The planes being sunk to their props happens sometimes when I try to use ADE on 3rd party airports, so I have seen what you’re talking about. As far as I know, there isn’t a way to resolve that other than to possibly contact the developer for help.

Best of luck.

Excellent! I will send this link to my scenery creator. Thanks!
