has anyone noticed that ground clearance with some airfields that the taxi instruction doesn’t match actual airport diagrams
On most (all?) airports the taxiway designations are generic, which means you can’t use real charts.
For this, I use Little Nav Map. It reads all the taxiway information in-sim and portrays matching taxiway and intersection information when zoomed into the airport you’re at. And since LNM is a moving map display as well, it’s easy of put it up on a second screen or alt-tab between to follow progress.
Me too! LNM is my go-to when departing any airport. Pretty easy to translate ATC Ground taxi instructions to the taxiway path and arrive at the runway. I absolutely refuse to use those taxi ribbons that can be turned on… LOL! All that blue paint all over the tarmac… ![]()
Wouldn’t be a solution for me. Taxiing at an international airport you know inside out IRL with fantasy taxiway designators.
Curious now. Can you give an example of fantasy taxiways? Not that I’ve been to a bunch of International airports, but the ones I have left from, LNM has always provided accurate taxiways…
Wait, so Little Nav Map actually shows the wrong taxiway data from MSFS Correctly? If so, I get that it’s perhaps a workaround, or by design, but I hope someone in the team realizes having dead-wrong taxiway designations is simply no good.
Displaying it as if it’s correct is simply misleading. If it’s that easy to read the data and display it from the sim, have Asobo made it difficult to correct taxiway designations using an editor?
I use ForeFlight which uses real-world data for airports. Airport data like this is fixed unless there is construction or some other change. I would think it would be “easy” to be correct in the sim?
A post today said ESSA Stockholm taxiways were messed up, so I departed there but cruised taxiways D,F,G,H and U on my way to depart Runway 26, using LNM for guidance, no problems, seems right…
Most airports have generic taxiway names that are not real. Now, I know a lot of people will scream that I’m wrong and most airports Are accurate but its simply not true. Now, It may be true that a lot of common, or popular, airfields have correct(ed) taxiways, but the vast majority of airports are straight up generic. So pathetic and unrealistic for “the most realistic simulator ever”
It’s not “messed up” but just a few taxiways are incorrect at ESSA.
What’s your solution then?
It’s a BIG airport! I didn’t wanna use all my fuel cruisin’ the taxiways. LOL! The few that I mentioned were correct in LittleNavMap. I could have found my way to the runway without looking out, just following progress in the LNM view. Undoubtedly, there are errors, but in my limited experience, I haven’t found them…
