Im honestly at a loss for words. Imagine investing nearly 7k building the best rig money can buy only to have to look at this. This is TLOD @600. Cant even see trees out in front of the airplane at altitude.

I remember getting that same “small-circle-of-detail-under-the-aircraft-only” in FSX whenever I installed a photoreal scenery and was flying at higher altitudes.
The effect is made worse in MSFS 2024 (and now also in MSFS 2020) by the fact that in many areas the “lower detail” tiles consist of an entirely different aerial set, so when the high-res textures DO load, the colour differences between the higher and lower res textures are both glaring and immersion-breaking.
MS/Asobo should really regenerate every layer of the lower-res aerials by downsampling them directly from the highest-resolution aerials. It would be a massive project, another one for a fabled “artistic” team, but once done, that transition effect between LOD layers will be a lot less jarring.
It wouldn’t fix individual trees being visible from a greater distance at altitude, though.
This isnt terrain tiles these are the trees loading in over the sat imagery. Buildings seem to still load at further stances. I don’t use photogrammetry either
Don’t know how anyone could enjoy this game with PG off but you’re brave for sure. I just can’t live with the generic-looking AI-gen scenery as everything looks the same across the world.
My experience with PG is a mixed bag - one day I fly over a certain area and it looks jaw dropping. The next, there’s broken crayons and jaggies sticking up from the ground all around me, with some areas of the land completely barren and flat.
I wish their servers would finally be optimized for everyone around the globe along with scenery loading and draw distance issues, as well as performance hiccups and memory leaks addressed once and for all. All down to server problems and lack of optimization I believe.
So, shall we give it another year or so then? ![]()
It’s interesting you say you don’t know how anyone could enjoy the sim with PG turned off, but then in the very next statement explain how incredibly inconsistent it is from flight to flight.
Some people value consistency and clarity, autogen may be generic, but it sure beats cities that look like the aftermath of an apocalypse. Not to mention trees that look like rocks lol.
Exactly !
inconsistent blurbs & blobs is one of the 2-3 things that kill the interest I have in msfs2024
I’d rather have PG off
With PG off I could have stayed with P3D and others with XP. Way less frustration.
Nonsense. Msfs auto gen is still miles better. I dont know how people like seeing melted blobs when coming in to land or taxing around on the ground.
Cool? I can nitpick a small PG area too for a screenshot. Do me a favor and try a screenshot in Seattle, and make sure you’re in an aircraft this time and actually moving. I can enter drone mode and wait for the scene to render too, a fair test is actually flying into an area.
Hi there @Goose1549 here is a video for you to do some nitpicking ![]()
On youre request i have made a quick video this morning in Seattle Area
Raw and unpolished with settings in description of the video a yt
Here is the link
I made another which possible suit better to what you requested
Today, flying into Geneva/LSGG (Jetstream Designs) from the east.
1.8.16, RX 9070 XT, 4K Native AA, FG (1.1), Adrenaline 26.8.1, 7800X3D, 1 gbit internet, most settings on high, texture level on medium (also issue if on high).
Close-by mountains full of snow, although 28 degrees in Geneva, in early september…
And the visual quality of the mountains are still especially bad in the Alps around Geneva, LOWI etc. Such a shame. Please fix, or at least acknowledge issue.
Look at airport ground textures. Ouch. Could hardly see runway either on approach.
Have seen high-fidelity beautiful ground texture leaving Bolzano in same flight, so it can look beatiful. But here, it’s bizarrely bad.
Very nice. Unfortunately PG doesn’t look like that for me in Seattle and other certain areas. In Los Angeles it looks good for some reason, but again other places I just see blurry textures and blobs.I appreciate you taking the time to put together the clip, at least now I know it is possible for it to look good. I just don’t know what I can do to fix the problem. My internet is fiber so I doubt it’s that.
confirmed. yesterday’s flights from Munich to Salzburg to Innsbruck to Klagenfurt: Alps, mountains, rocks are blurry. Increased settings for rocks from medium to high. No different. And yes: During my flights over the alps: covered with snow ![]()
7800X3d, 7900XTX, VD, Quest 3
by the way: the reason for the beautiful Bolzano: The area got a photogrammetry update days ago: World update Italy.
Yep. Looking good at many of those updated places. Very nice.
I believe you play the sim on Xbox if i see correct at your avatar,
Unfortunately i have no xbox so i can’t help you there.
I am on PC actually. I did not even realize that my avatar signified that. I’ll probably change it.
I should update mine too,
On pc it makes it more interesting trying to find a solution
What specs have your pc?
