Growing frustration among Xbox users

Hi all,

I am fairly new in the community and in flight simulation period. I am on Xbox series X and like many Xbox users I had issues with addons.

Right now there is a lot of frustration among Xbox users regarding many subjects.

Personally I see two problems actually. The frustration among xbox users in relation with performance issue and the difficulty to get refunds for unusable products.

Problem :Xbox performance issues that are well known by Asobo / Microsoft, altough they keep selling the products knowing these issue.

Solution : at least advertise the situation on the marketplace before user confirme the bying. Easy message.

« Dear user, please note that downloading and installing multiple add ons could possibly cause performance issues on Xbox. ( even airplanes and liveries that are not actually used on the flight) You might have to manage installation and uninstallation of products to prevent performance issues »

At least this way, users that are not aware of the situation (like me for the last two sales) would have the choice to assume this risk or not.

Solution : Making a step towards users in two manners.

  • First, they need to assume and advertise the issue. People gets usually calmed down when they feel listened.

  • Make a concrete gesture towards users by compensating them in connection with the products purchased. There is many ways to do so that would make users happy and that would not cost that much to the company.

What do you think simmers ?

For instance the payware F-14 from IndiaFoxtEcho and Heatblur has no switch to close the canopy and no extension switch for the wings. Also no link for an operating manual. Why are they selling this for the Xbox?

The issues with aircraft i.e HBs F14 is the responsibility of the product developer not MS/Asobo.
Many of the 3rd party developers have support sites, facebook, discords etc to answer questions and provide product support as said support is no longet allowed within these forums.
As an Xbox user i totally get that purchasing addons is a live minefield and i also wish the developers would state if their wares were high memory usage or unsuitable for lower spec systems. But at the end of the day they are just trying to make a living.
For refunds on products you need to follow the MS refund procedure (im sure there is a link in thr support section of these forums) as purchasing from marketplace you are buying from MS not the developers directly

Hi, i have the F14 from HB/IndiaFE and i can operate the canopy from inside the cockpit its just above the lighting controls on the right hand side of the cockpit, and the wing sweep control is the yellow handle on the left next to the throttles…or have i misunderstood what you meant. :sunglasses:

Manual for the F14 are easily found.

I don’t have any issue with the canopy or wings either.

My only gripe with it on Xbox is that it’s a resource hog with all of the high detail and animation , so it struggles at certain airports.
But it sure is nice

The F14 and the Vulcan are both great i think on the box, for me personally the series X is giving me a good 99% of what i want out of a flight sim and i enjoy using it. I do/did fly xplane 11 (mainly the Toliss A321NEO) on PC and have MSFS and DCS(inc the HB F14) installed also but my pc is showing its age a bit now, i tried MSFS on my sons xbox x on release and wasnt that impressed at the time but having picked up a new xbox myself this year it seems to have come on a lot and i have not experianced any issues in performance as yet.
Some great advice on here regarding add on scenery etc and what not to get.

I think that scenery are causing most of the problem. Personally I never had problem if I only had planes installed. (Except when the problem is coming from the plane itself and not related to the console)

I unfortunately had that confirmation after buying several airports that are causing issue with more demanding planes like the PMDG 737.

I dont know for others, but I dont think that new users come on the forums before buying addons…it<S this lack of information prior to the purchases and the refund issues after problematic purchases.

Xbox performance limits vs an expensive gaming PC will remain, I can live with that, I just think that some actions need to be done to adress the situation for Xbox users.

Yes agreed, my only issue so far has come from buying the Gatwick scenery and that was my fault for (unlike me) not doing some research but it was cheap enough not to worry and it was deleted rather quickly shame as its my local and workplace but hey ho. I came into the Xbox with fairly low expectations tbh and have been pleasantly surprised with it yes there are limitations. I am sure this has been gone over before so apologies as new to the forum.

See I think that is a problem. We shouldn’t have to “make research”

With a little disclaimer message at the moment of purchase, at least we could assume the risk as it was clearly stated.

Yes that is a good point.

I cannot do the canopy on my Xbox X and I have tried the location where I know the where the lever is but it is not clickable.

Also the steering wheel is locked all the time like in catapult mode so I can’t taxi on the flight deck.

Have not encountered these issues myself on Xbox X.

Do you use a mouse , i click and hold on the switch for the canopy and all good, in regard to the NWS have you got the aircraft in the kneel position?

With xbox there simply are to many variables. On xbox, if you fly in the vanilla sim it works great, no issues at all (for me) however I hear others have issues.
This can come down to things like internet speeds, internet stability, being hardwired or being wireless, what devices you have plugged into the xbox, what else is drawing bandwidth on your internet.

I have had some crashes before but based on what people are saying it is fewer than many.
I do not have any airport add ons outside of one texture add on so the runways look a bit more real. Outside of that I just have aircraft add ons.

The biggest issue with xbox is that there are so many variables and no real way to manage them very well.

Interested, what is this runway addon you speak of. Does it cover all runways?

Thanks will check it out.

Had a look, looks good, I gather this pack is the best one currently for Xbox, do you have it installed yourself?

We need an add-on manager for Xbox. We need to be able to switch add ons ON or OFF without the pain of reinstalling (2 to 3 days at times for me) this includes WU and CU.

its that simple.

I love the idea of the Xbox format and form factor but hate the glitches.

My problems literally almost every flight!!!

  1. Randomly the (A) button will not activate the menu item. The (A) button will show an active press but nothing happens in the menu or selection.

  2. Randomly does not recognize the Honeycomb Flight yoke or Throttle. Mostly the Throttle

  3. Disappearing Cursor for the xbox controller in menus

  4. Freezing at startup screen

  5. Freezing after completed flight and going back to the main menu. Happens very regularly.

  6. Odd quirks when saving and starting a flight from a saved file.

And a few more oddities that really bug me. I understand the Xbox was a compromise but I was hoping for a less flawed experience.
