Pompeii Italy?

Nah that lake at the right wingtip doesn’t seem to match with the Vesuvius volcano, located between pompei and Napels.

You got it, Mount St. Helens. :). Your pick of the next location.

PS: St. Helens is in Washington State.

Right, indeed. I have always believed it was in Oregon as I went to see the place from Portland.
A great sight !

I have one that maybe @Shack952514 will not not find too easily

Hint : not Australia

Also seen the Volcano from Portland…. IF you ever get the chance drive I-5 from Portland to Seattle, stop in Centralia and then a visit to the mountain…. I haven’t been yet, it’s on the List…

I may not have so many occasions to go there ; I’ve already been lucky enough to go twice to Portland and around for industrial training. It was great, I even took my paraglider, intending to fly in front of the St Helens, but conditions in the Toutle valley where far too strong for me !

Wait, is this a real photo?

EDIT: OK I see - I’m an idiot. We are still on the “Hint: Not Australia” one

Is this not the National park where Yogi bear lives with his little Boo boo, Yellowstone?

Is it Zouérat in northern Mauritania?

Yes @Shack952514 , you got it… one of the closest airfields if you want to visit Richat’s structure located ESE.
At Zouerate, you can find open sky iron mines that are really worth seeing from above.

What surprised me was that the imagery in Windows Maps/Bing Maps is very blurry and much darker while in your screenshot it’s very crisp. Also the DEM seems to be much better in the sim, so they must have updated the imagery and the DEM at some point. I can’t remember that they mentioned this in a dev update, or I just missed it. Does anybody know that? Anyway, it‘s a good sign. It shows that they also update regions outside their world updates.

This pic has been taken in October 2020 (see image title). So it may not be a recent change.
Generally speaking, there is a very well defined zone at the north of Africa (let’s say the desert area : Mauritania to Soudan) ; I discovered that during the first months after the game release. On the opposite, the northern Europe (Norway f.ex.) was totally bad with elevation errors.

Oh, it’s that old. Interesting. Strange that they didn’t bother to update the imagery in Bing Maps.
Yeah, large parts of Africa look really good, much better than in Google actually, which is great. I got to fly there more often.

By the way I still can‘t upload any screenshots, so whoever feels like posting one, feel free.
