It’s actually two of those countries…
Gosh, I’ve been 3 times over the place without seeing those twin craters !!!
Now it’s easier !
Well done.
Yes double well done and you are right, I should have spotted the line indicating the border on the chart.
Bulgan Gol national park is right there on the Mongolian side for anyone that wants to find the exact location.
I didn’t focus on them until quite late either. That made it much easier.
Since there haven’t been any guesses in 2 days, here’s a hint. It’s not in Asia.
Is it in Australia? I can’t quite make out if the round feature is related to mining or perhaps circular irrigation & the dark patches next to it could either be water storage or tailings ponds. I don’t think it’s related to self-driving vehicle or other car test tracks of round design (such as in Mexico). The unusual herringbone-shaped feature visible - it reminds me of evaporation ponds. The other possibility is we’re looking at something military (radar cross section detection facility maybe).
For sure looks like it, my first thought when it was posted was Prominent Hill mine here in South Australia but it doesn’t seem to be, and I didn’t look any further yet.
@wanchaibanzai @RagingWombat839 It’s not in Australia. It’s located at a higher altitude than would be possible in Australia. The round feature is related to mining, as far as I can tell.
Hmm. Not in Asia, not in Australia. There appear to be snowy peaks in the far distance - perhaps the Andes? Maybe a mine on the altiplano of Bolivia…?
we‘re getting closer. much closer.
Did you take off from SLOR, perhaps?
Edit: Like, flying about 24 NM at a heading of 300 degrees:

which will take you to:

Holy moly, good work padawan-alien!!!
I have been half an hour late !!!
Having started from the south of Argentina and looking for mines, I was going north along Cordillera and was just under the Uyuni Salar before lunch. Went back to my search 10 minutes ago !
Well done !
Well done!
Actually, I didn‘t take off anywhere, I just spawned there to take the screenshot for this challenge.
Nor a drop to drink…
I think we are looking for islands in the Antarctic or equatorial Pacific Ocean.
I was gonna say South Shetland Islands but I’m afraid they look too large.
A bit off topic, but I came across this book over the weekend and thought I would share (as it may/may not relate to our esteemed colleague @RagingWombat839):
Haven’t seen that one before, good find!
Ahoy me hearties!
I was a sailor stout and bold,
Long time I plough’d the oceans;
With buccaneers and privateers,
Seized gold coin with devotion!
Well with that, I’m thinking around Indonesia somewhere, but the ocean is much more crowded than this pic seems…
Hmm I was thinking more the Americas, possibly Caribbean.
