Gunpilot's Whats The Plan? Flight Series - Legless In Brazil

Welcome to the 58th flight event across both the Gunpilot’s Challenging Flights and Whats The Plan? series. This challenging Whats The Plan? flights event will be Legless In Brazil, and is again guaranteed to give you more of the unique and challenging flight experience that you have come to expect from Gunpilot’s flight events.

This Whats The Plan? event follows on from the premiere event in this series last week which was roundly embraced and enjoyed by the large number of pilots who flew the event.

Last weeks debut flight was purposely toned down in the level of challenge it presented so as to enable people to come to terms with the new event format that had never been seen on the MSFS2020 simulator platform before. Well, this second flight in the series, called Legless In Brazil, will definitely ramp up the pressure and the challenge factor considerably.

This flight will be conducted in the Amazon jungle in Brazil and has thrown down the challenge for all pilots to fly the route and arrive at the correct destination. We will be locating and landing at current and abandoned small dirt mining airstrips that abound in the Amazon jungle in the area we will be flying. Pilots will be given a starting ICAO airport identifying code and once at that location the heading and distance to the first landing location will be provided. Pilots will, by using the basic dead reckoning technique, navigate themselves to that landing location where, after they have located the landing spot and landed, find a billboard advising them of the heading and distance to the next landing waypoint. And so the flight progresses, leg by leg, until reaching the goal of the final destination airstrip.

For the first time, Gunpilot will be providing ATC advice to all pilots along the way, especially assisting any pilot who has struggled to find the waypoint, and reducing cockpit workload to a minimum (that being to just fly each leg). No flight plan or maps such as LNM are required to take on this challenging flight!

All you have to do to join in with all the other pilots on the Challenging flight in Brazil is to:

  1. Extract the zipped file below (whatstheplan ep002.zip) and place into your community folder for
    billboard display during flight

  2. Click on the link below to get the instructions (Event Tracker Quick reference Guide) to set up for
ATC support in the flight and follow instructions. (This is a 1 time only
task with just 1 entry and your done)

  3. Start your sim and enter the Departure Airport code of SBEK

  4. When on runway you will be provide with the heading and distance info required to reach the first
waypoint landing site.Note: there are a couple of out landigs where you
will not be landing on one of the numerous mining airstrips.

NOTE: No flight event plan is required, and LNM (Little Nav Map) does not have to be loaded – nice and simple

RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Cessna Caravan as all landing and other challenges built into flight are
tailored for this aircraft’s performance specifically
2. Turn Damage mode off as you will most likely suffer at least hard
landings if not full on crashes
3. Embrace “SLEW” as it may be your friend by the end of the flight
4. Have a stopwatch or timer app on your mobile phone handy
5. Have a hand towel handy to wipe sweat of your brow and hands
