ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: After SU4, the H225 can’t be flown much over 100 kts before the nose pitches up uncontrollably, and this is after inputting full nose-down longitudinal trim. Without trim, the maximum speed is nearer to 80 kts.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Every time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Took off in the H225.

  2. Accelerated in level flight.

  3. Applied full forward cyclic and trim to no effect.

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

What peripherals are you using, if relevant:

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it?

[PC, MSFS 2020 Only] Are you using DX11 or DX12?

[PC Only] What GPU (Graphics Card) do you use?

[PC Only] What other relevant PC specs can you share?

MEDIA

Please add a screenshot or video of the issue occurring.

Reproduction steps are useless of you dont even write which assists you have activated

I have the same issue. All assists off besides tail rotor assist. Wake turbulence is enabled. No matter what I do, around 100 knots the helicopter pitches up uncontrollably and it’s impossible to get it back to forward flight until it slowed down a lot

No assists whatsoever.

I can confirm the behavior. Have the same effect above 100kts, all heli assists enable. Seems like you can’t even work against it with Pitch Trim.

Confirmed uncorrectable pitch up as speed increases on my system as well. No asists on.

I believe the pitch up issue is the beginnings of Retreating Blade Stall (RBS) and most likely due to a bit of flight model imported from some Asobo generic aircraft like the G2. (Or even the H145 with edited numbers) Remember that as the retreating blade enters aerodynamic stall, the force-vector (gravity in this case) acts upon that part of the rotor disc in a downward direction. However, due to our old friend gyroscopic precession, that force vector is transferred—processed—90 degrees of rotor disc rotational direction to the back part of the disc. Drop in the back, aggravated lift processed to the front… uncontrolled pitch up with reduction of collective and speed the recovery.

Just want to add that, according to Wikipedia, the H225 has a cruise speed of 140 kts. So as you wrote, this may very well be a leftover from copying parameters from another helicopter. But it is definitely not a realistic blade stall at 100 kts.

I routinely (well, before SU4) fly/flew the H225 at higher speeds than that. Of course 120kts is an unrealistic RBS speed for this machine, but is right in the ballpark for a G2 or other generic MSFS helicopter. So much of the H225 flight behavior has been borked, it just feels to me that there was a wholesale swap of the flight model just to get this update (downdate?) out. It’s a generic aircraft wearing an H225 costume. Dev’s can cut-n-paste too.

I am having the exact same issue. Upvoted.

Maybe turning on CFD visualization helps diagnosing the issue, I usually experience this around mountains where there are updrafts, but CFD visualization shows it clearly if it is wind related, or something else is causing it.

Can confirm, seems to be something targeted at 100kts. No assists at all.

And I know I’ve flown considerably faster than that before the SU4 update, so it’s a new change.

This helicopter was the reason to get this edition of msfs2024 now finally its in Carer SAR missions but its unflyable due the bug who you guys describe! Im so disappointed , hope they will fix it ASAP!

Honestly, I wouldn’t say unflyable. I did several missions, just had to keep speed at or below 100kts. It’s not as good as it should be, but it’s also much easier to work with that most other helos. The stability controls mean you can go long distances with just slight taps on the stick. Not true autopilot, but still very stable.

I have noticed the following.

Torque TRQ – Speed Kts

50-60% - 0-80

45-50% - 80-100

40-45% - 100-120

38-40% - 120-130

Anything over 130kts air speed is unreachable without a drematic pull up.

As soon as you see a slight pitch up of the nose bring the collective down slightly and re adjust.

I’ve noticed that the H225 comfort zone is 100-120KTS air speed with 40-45% Torque with this you shouldn’t really have any issues atleast not from my experience for the time being.

Thank you for the bug report.

We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged.

Would be nice for this to be fixed or at least get an idea of when it will be. It’s getting quite frustrating.

SU5 has fixed a few issues with the H225, which means IniBuilds is at least working on it. But sadly, the biggest showstopper issue in the flight model hasn’t been touched.

After SU5 the uncontrollable pitching up of the nose still exists. Shame it should be a great model but until they sort the issues out it is unusable.

This is really sad, just took the ATPL exam to fly this beauty and it still has breaking bugs more than a year after launch :slightly_frowning_face:
