Had Floating Runway Lights, but going on DevCam fixed them-- How? Coincidence?

This is a really nebulous question, and I may be chasing a red herring here-- assigning a solution to mere coincidence.

I had an issue with floating runway lights at KTVL (South Lake Tahoe, California) airport and KTRK (Truckee, California) airport. I don’t know how they got like that to begin with, as I believe those airports had always been okay with the lights.

I went on our forum, used the search box, and found a post referring to a video, on how to fix floating runway lights. I didn’t really understand what the guy was showing (he didn’t speak, just pointed at menus with his mouse), but he went into developer mode and started moving his POV around with the devCam.

So going into developer mode, I began playing around the Dev Camera, zooming back into outer space, and coming back down, twirling and moving the camera all around. Then I exited my session, restarted the main menu (without exiting the sim), and it fixed the problem!

I mean… I’m hardly complaining, but am very confused how using the dev camera, , could have possibly fixed anything.

Was there something else I possibly could have done that corrected the floating runway lights, that had nothing to do with “Developer Mode” or the DevCamera whatsoever? If so what do you think it was, and how do I prevent floating lights again in the future?

Might slewing too much or moving the droneCam too far away from the aircraft be causing the problem?

Most likely that autofix was just caused by a scenery reloading. Next time you face the issue you can try to use teleport option (to anywhere and back to the coordinates of the airport). When you teleport outside the currently cached area a reloading is forced as well.

You just need to go a few kilometers away, not to another country. You can also force teleport via external apps which sopport it (e.g: Flow or Plan-g).

Geloxo, thank you. That sure makes a lot more sense than what I was theorizing. If that’s the case, then I think clearing my scenery cache from time to time could probably also be helpful (I’m guessing?).

That should be done by game when you load a new flight anyway but as you see even today there are issues with objects positioning, so yes, do it if you find them. It’s easy to do it when required and it does not break anything.

So much is cached, and sometimes those caches get corrupted. Yes, it’s a good idea to at least reset your content.xml file every so often, and delete and rebuild your rolling cache.
