Or why you should not ignore the checklist.
Flying the DA62 today on a visual approach I was going through the checklist and was phoning it in.
When it was time to put the landing gear down I know I hit a key on the keyboard but I’m not sure if I hit the wrong key or the keyboard did not have focus. But the landing gear never went down.
I did not notice this, and I just assumed it was down and never actually checked and was ticking away on the checklist all ready for a nice smooth landing.
I’m on short final, flared, floated, and then heard a strange noise as both engines died and I got some announcements on the PFD.
The plane skidded to a stop and I accidentally but successfully performed a gear up belly landing.
FSEconomy even gave me credit for a completed flight.
I learned that checklists are there for a reason, take them seriously.
That is all, carry on.
