Happy Anniversary!

Wilbur and Orville, 1903. Look how far we’ve come.

and in 2023, anyone can simulate that 1st Flight in MSFS - how cool is that

The invention of fly by wire…, wood and fabric.
120 years ago, i cant even imagine how the world looks over another century, let alone MSFS2100.

20 years from now --------- 100 years from now
Assuming, humans have not wiped themselves out by then. Thank God, won’t be around to find out

Shall we ask AI for a msfs 2100 trailer/teaser or is that to soon?

Funny you should mention that … Last week I asked ChatGPT to write a “Press Release for MSF 2024”, but after reading it, decided (wisely), not to post it here in the MSFS forum :stuck_out_tongue:

No reason you cannot do the same, if you are curious.

ie
“Write a detailed PRESS RELEASE for the next 2024 version of Microsoft flight simulator”

OK, so it’s a PRESS Release, so as expected, full of Marketing Hype and Woffle, with very little actual technical specifics.

The first Wright Flyer engine was a 12-horsepower (9-kilowatt) gasoline engine that powered two propellers mounted behind the wings of the aircraft. It was built by the Wright brothers’ employee Charlie Taylor from scratch, using cast aluminum, cast iron, and other materials. It weighed 180 pounds (82 kilograms) and had a 1-US-gallon (3.8-liter) fuel tank. The engine was connected to the propellers by a chain-and-sprocket transmission system that allowed them to rotate in opposite directions to avoid torque effects. The engine was one of the key innovations that enabled the Wright brothers to achieve the first sustained flight by a manned heavier-than-air powered and controlled aircraft on December 17, 1903

In addition to the engine, the other innovations were the propeller design and the method to control the attitude of the plane. A very good book is ‘Kill Devil Hill’ by Harry Combs.

The first flight did not have a catapult which was later used in 1904 with the Wright Flyer II. The Wright Flyer II must be the one in MSFS. The footage in the British Pathe video is not the first flight as the title states, nor is it a flight in 1903. Upright seats were not used until a few years later. The airplane in the video is Wright Military Flyer from 1908/1909. (Notice the vertical stabilizers on each side of the front foreplane and upright seating vs laying prone in the Flyer I and II).

A lot of people here with great historical input .

Appreciate their knowledge, and their sharing it.
