Hardware needed to drive a G2

Hey all. My current VR performance in the simulator is good enough to have a nice experience, but I would really like to be able to run at render scale 100. Ideally also pull 45fps too.

Currently I run a 9900k, 32b RAM, and a 2080ti. I think that my performance at 80 render scale is around 30fps, which is fine but you can really see the drop in smoothness when I pan the headset side to side.

Would a 12900k + 3090 give me what I am after, or shall I wait for the next gen CPU/GFX (maybe 3090ti?)

The CPU is almost irrelevant… even a 3090 struggles with the G2 at 100% render scaling.
I could get about 35-40 fps with my 10850K and the 3090 at render scale 80%, so don’t think the thousands dollar upgrade would get you 45 fps at 100% No GPU can do that with the G2.
If I were you I’d keep the 2080 Ti until the market is out of the current insanity: it’s still a very good GPU and any upgrade would be very expensive with heavy diminishing returns.

Thanks for reply. Kind of confirmed what I was thinking. I will just enjoy my setup until after the world recovers and new hardware is available at MSRP. :+1:

I “only” have a 3080 and 8700k and get 40-45 FPS with oxr70/TAA100. You could easily get more FPS if you tweaked the graphics options a bit! Medium Clouds, no reflections, no ambient occlusion for example. I know some of that stuff is nice but FPS and relative sharpness has priority IMO!

OXR 70%!!!
We were talking about 100… 100 is not workable even for the 3090.

I have a 3060ti with R7 3700X. The experience is smooth as butter with latest Nvidia and the NIS scaler at 75% renderscale and 60% sharpening (OXR and TAA both at 100%).

Oh I misread that

Maybe, visuals are pretty bad for me with those settings though
