Has anyone done an IFR approach at Lukla Airport in Nepal?

So I went to Lukla airport and had live weather turned to on. It was foggy so I tried a takeoff and landing only using the Synthetic vision on the Garmin avionics. It’s kind of fun! Has anyone else tried this at Lukla? Here’s the video: https://youtu.be/RPADmlGDfXE

synthetic vision can’t be used for an instrument approach.

Tenzing-Hillary Airport only has visual procedures.

Bummers! I was getting excited for a second there…

You landed better than I do in VFR! Try also turning on isolines. But definitively NOT in real life!!!

Yeah, this is definitely one of those simulation only flying techniques.

For some reason this does not surprise me.

Agree! …the most frightening part was the 180° turn in the blind! I remember a video from a private jet that was flying amongst mountains with GPS. At a certain point the tip of the right wing hit for some millimeters a rock… they survived just for a miracle! But was a real video!

Maybe was this, but I remember something more clear

“We have a handleld gps. We’ll be fine.”

I can guarantee you that was the last time they ever tried this.
