I was about to look at some of the flight model data in some of the default planes in reference to a mod I am working on. And I have now discovered that many planes now have their critical flight model and performance data bundled in opaque binary files that are not human readable / editable. What gives?

With the already abysmal and non existant SDK documentation. Why make it harder?
Obviously it is because they want to limit the premium aircraft to premium package holders. Otherwise most would just buy the basic package and pirate the rest.
I wouldn’t describe any of the (extra) aircraft as “premium”
If more access helps us self help and each other where’s the downside? They can learn and implement fixes too.

ah, yeah that makes sense. In this case it just turns out that they initially released the game with those files in the wrong state, because they used to be editable lol.
