I currently rely use the Thrustmaster TCA throttle for the A32NX and it’s very good. I also have the Honeycomb Bravo which I generally use for everything else. The thing is it’s a bit of a hassle to keep changing them over and moving the Bravo somewhere for when I use the TCA because I don’t have enough space on my desk to fit both. I was wondering whether it’s worth getting the Airbus Throttle Pack for the Honeycomb so I no longer need to use the TCA.
Obviously you don’t have the detents on the Honeycomb however there are markings so you can visually see which position you are in. I presume this would need calibrating. I also like the way on the Airbus Pack flap lever you need to pull it up first before you move it, just as IRL.
It would be good to hear some feedback from others who have the Airbus Pack and have also used the TCA throttle. Is it worth the switch?
I have the Airbus pack and really like it. Yes, it can be a fiddle to get configured with bindings and reverse thrusters but once done it works a treat. Easily changeable between 2 and 4 engine variants as well.
Very well engineered but of kit overall and I would say a must if you live in the A320nx!
Do you find yourself having to look at the detent lines to make sure you are in the correct thrust position? On my TCA throttle it has detents which you can feel. Also can you easily configure this in the flypad detent settings in the A32NX?
As there are no detentsI do find myself glancing down to look where the levers are. I also check for the Thr Clm notification on the PFD.
It’s totally manageable though but I might look for a 3D printed solution as there is sure to be one out there. The flap lever is great and I love the reverse thrust levers.
They also work well with the CRJ and that’s a favourite of mine. There is an audible click on the CRJ so you know where you are with the levers though.
That’s good to know about the CRJ as this as I was looking into getting it. Out of interest do you use the TCA Sidestick when flying the A32NX?
I don’t, I have the Honeycomb Alpha and use that. Not ideal I suppose for the A320 but I haven’t crash landed yet (touch wood!).
As I like the Honeycomb kit so much, I am waiting out for the Charlie rudder and I believe there is a joystick type controller coming at some point too.
I have just brought the Airbus pack for the Bravo and am having trouble setting the detents in the A32NX. I have tried using the flypad detents setting but cannot seem to get the throttle set to idle. It just keeps going into reverse. Please could you share how you set yours up, that would be very helpful. Thanks
