Please can we have the option to turn off POI. etc.
For some it may save FPS (and I am interested to see the difference and overall effect of POI against overall performance)
thank you

but you can already do that, maybe have a look at the settings?
If I understand your request correctly, there is already that option. In Assistance Options, under POI, you can turn them all off.
I cannot see how you turn them off when you fly. I know how to turn them off in the map!
I literally mean - dont show the POIs in the world
See my post. This turns them off so when you fly they are not there.
no - that turns off the markers - I am pretty sure it does not removes the actual building/bridge/landscape.
I see. You want to remove the physical landmark. Perhaps resubmit your request asking for the ability to do that.
Wow, i just have to ask… why would someone want to remove a bunch of scenery that actually exists in the real world?
This can be done for specific World Updates by removing the POI component, which is separate from the custom Photogrammetry and any Bespoke Airports.
When i posted this three years ago - i was trying to think of ways to improve performance and having hand built landmarks seemed less important to me than having smooth performance. Giving people the choice to have them visible or not. Everyone has their opinion.
Anyway - i am not using 2020 anymore and only fly 2024
This is the answer. You can go to your content manager and search poi or points of interest and delete whatever you want. Saves a lot of disk space too. I don’t do this but go crazy to delete whatever you want. I would try it on one POI first and then fly that area first and see if that’s what you’re looking for as it’s pretty hefty to re-download them all.
A couple of years ago I wanted to improve performance and save disk space, so I went through the content manager and uninstalled some default scenery sets and even default aircraft that I never used.
Then the next time I restarted, I think FS2020 ran some kind of file verification test, because it said there was an update for the Standard release. I couldn’t progress past that screen without selecting “update now” which put all of those items back.
It might be an interesting experiment to see if any default items (non-marketplace/WU content) can also be uninstalled from the content manager without FS2020 attempting to restore them on the next startup.
Thankfully with the device I have now, the specs aren’t as constrained, so I can get decent performance simply by keeping most options at modest levels. But I remember my days of tinkering with every FS option, Windows setting, CFG file, and registry key hack under the sun to eke out the max FPS possible.
Right now I’m working on getting my sim to get to the main menu in under 3 minutes. FSLTL is the main culprit that adds a minute to the start time. But I can’t get rid of that. That’s the only thing I like about 2024 is it starts in under 2 minutes, even with FSLTL installed. So with FS 2020, what I have done so far is delete all training, bush flights, challenges and discovery flights. This has helped quite a bit. I did keep the Naples Discovery flight because I kind of use it sometimes as a test flight. Another thing I did, there’s a mod on flightsim.to that will hide aircraft. So I’ve been able to hide a lot of aircraft. You have to be careful with this mod though because if you are using any AI or real-time traffic it will crash the sim. But if you just using FSLTL you’re okay. You can also use fast-start but I really don’t see much of a difference. Anyway I have it down to about 2:45 so mission accomplished.
Does anyone know how to get the FSLTL traffic injector to start minimized and not ask me if anything needs to be changed? I just want to click on the icon and have it minimized and running.
Sorry for going off topic here.
Yes, I also dislike that you can’t delete anything in the Official folder- aircraft etc. without it getting reinstalled the next time you start FS2020. No way to nuke default aircraft and declutter the aircraft selection screen.
I’d love this too, but I don’t think it’s possible. Starting minimized is easy. You create a shortcut for fsltl-trafficinjector.exe and in the shortcut properties set the “run” value to “minimized”. But this won’t bypass the “want to change any of the above settings” prompt, and I’m not sure that’s possible. I expect that is a question that has probably already been posed in the FSLTL discord, and if not, it should be.
I am sure their is a setting in FSTL that makes it auto start - skip all the confirmations - I thought it was called silent mode or something. I am sure its in the guide.
I still don’t understand the desire to get rid of landmarks or points of interest that are part of the real world. Would there be a hole in the scenery there? Why would you want to take away one of the visual improvements in the scenery? Probably the biggest selling point of the latest versions of this flightsim was the Improvement in the scenery. I can understand turning down settings to improve frame rates, but to physically alter the world so that it is not as real? I don’t get it.
