Been running the sim on a 3 year old laptop with a 2080ti in an external Thunderbolt eGPU to an ultrawide (3440x1440) monitor. Mainly 35-45fps on high/ultra. But the poor laptop kept overheating and throttling and complex urban areas had FPS slow downs, stutters etc. You know the drill.
Even so, continued to enjoy flying in the more remote and mountainous regions in props and turbos. I have had a play with the jets but not really my thing nor is autopilot/IFR stuff. My idea of IFR is “I follow roads”.
Built myself a new desktop this week and dropped the 2080ti into it. Good improvement. Approx. 10 FPS bump in the same situations which I put down to faster disk, faster WiFi and just faster pretty much everything. Downtown Tokyo, in low cloud, at speed, in the TBM at rooftop level and now getting around 40fps which is more than enough.
Sure, the bugs are a thing. I complained about lack of lightning in live weather, now we have too much. It’ll get fixed. Yep, hit V to get VFR map up mid flight and a CTD, again, it’ll get fixed. Live weather not showing in 2nd flight? Fixed for me now, but obviously not fixed for everybody. All issues for sure and they’ll get fixed.
We are just over a month in and the software will be improved. Going to be supported for 10 years after all. Yes, some things don’t work. But the things that do work do work well.
Go flying, go exploring. Log bugs you can reproduce. Please keep it constructive. Got an issue? Search for it before posting a new thread. The forums right now are somewhat depressing. This is supposed to be fun after all.
