I have been using a Honeycomb Bravo for autopilot control. I am awaiting a new Wingflex DAP 500 Auto Pilot Control Panel. Do I need to, or would it be advisable to, remove/clear the auto pilot settings in the HC Bravo settings in MSFS 2024? Not sure if there would be conflicts between the two devices.
I also ordered the DAP 500 Auto Pilot control panel and I also have the Honeycomb Bravo.
I use an older Saitek Autopilot control and it works in 2020 but is a bear in 2024. I doubt you will have a problem with the Bravo and the DAP 500. I will keep you posted when I get my DAP 500. I plan to “retire” the Saitek.
I am hoping for no conflicts. After using the HC Bravo autopilot I got used to it and it actually does a pretty good job. Both my Alpha and Bravo are mounted under the top of my sim table. This makes it difficult to see and manipulate the auto pilot controls. I have used a Class Echo device for G1000 controls and it was fantastic for 4 years.. After I setup my computer in a different room, I started having too many connection problems with the SPAD.neXt program that interfaces between the Class Echo and the flight sim. I don’t want to deal with SPAD anymore. I am a plug and play type.
I just disconnected my trusty old Saitek Autopilot panel. I had my Winwing Airbus panel mounted above it. I had 3d printed mounts for the airbus panel, I modded them to fit flat on my desk.
I plan to mount the DAP 500 panel above the Winwing panel. May need to 3d print a mount.
I should be able to use the aluminum mount that comes with the DAP, with a little two sided tape on the bottom. Looks like my unit has made it to customs at the airport in China.
Mine also cleared customs
Mine arrived in Chicago 7 days ago. Still there apparently.
Got mine! Still learning!
Need to load profiles
I have my DAP500 set up but it needed a firmware update. Having trouble doing that. It enters update mode but doesn’t download the update. Now it won’t come out of update mode.
Update: I deleted the update from my downloads folder. then downloaded it again from WingFlex website. Ran the update and it completed just fine. Now ready to fly>
That firmware update was a doozy. You have to disconnect the usb cord before you start the pc, then start the pc and hit a certain button on the DAP500, then plug it in and it starts the firmware update.
I downloaded that profile that Mark from FlightSimHangar uploaded and it works well for almost everything in 2024. The VS dial does not work yet Ugh!
I have to find a way to setup the buttons in MSFS 2020.
Any ideas?
I don’t have any suggestions for 2020, I’m using 2024. I am going to start a thread for DAP500 users in this channel. This thread is for HC Bravo and the title is misleading.
