Was reading the Google news this morning, and they had an interesting article about HDR monitors. It was their assertion that 90% of hdr monitors (not tv’s) are really not true HDR due to the lax standards of the org. that actually brands these things as ‘certified’.
It said that your pretty safe with OLED monitors it was their finding these are pretty reliable to have true HDR abilities, but non OLED monitors even though they say HDR are really not.
I’m on 1.27.16.0 and still no HDR. Sim looks bland and washed out. Even in dev mode it reports as HDR. Anyone else got this? Have we heard any update on this? I fear it will not be fixed until SU10 releases…
Are you in full screen mode? or windowed mode? Full Screen mode does NOT work w/ HDR still. I can get it to turn on when I’m in windowed mode, sometimes I have to minimize the window and or “shake” the window (as silly as that sounds, move the window with your mouse a few times, in windowed mode obviously, and HDR will come back on.)
Worried this isn’t getting the attention it needs.
It’s working when I alt-enter into windowed mode. If I go back to fullscreen mode it doesn’t work. I’m having decent performance with DX11 in the latest build, but also had good performance in SU9. So I’ll probably do a few more flights in the latest beta then go back to SU9 for fullscreen HDR.
Works for me in fullscreen after the windowed-and-resize trick as well. Did screen and video captures and everything, no problems. RTX 2070S, Windows 11 (regular, not insiders; current version and Nvidia drivers up to date)
Anyone got ReShade working? For me it works most of the time, but occasionally the screen either goes black or “wonky”, and disabling ReShade returns it to normal.
After re-joining the beta on Series X after a few weeks… All I can say is wow… HDR is definitely corrected, but man… My TV is maxing out near 120fps and Ive never seen my X run this game so well.
Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
Yes(ish)
Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
My issue is a little different. HDR was on in Windows, but in MSFS2020 the option was off and greyed out. I was not able to select it.
The solution is to set the Auto-HDR option off to get the toggle back working in MSFS2020. With Auto-HDR on I suppose it’s on, but the menu does show it as being off. So that last thing seems a little bug.
Are you using DX12?
No
Are you using DLSS?
No
If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:
If you alt-enter then move the window around a bit the HDR in game will magically apply itself and start working. Then you can go back to full screen and start playing in HDR … if it doesnt CTD during the process.
