How does the HDR mode on the monitor work when there’s not an HDR signal?
(I guess what I’m saying is “I don’t have a clue how such a setting could exist, inherently; can you paste the bits from the manual explaining what it does?”)

Will look for it when I am at my computer.
Many thanks to everyone for the feedback and suggestions for straightening out the HDR graphics on my new ASUS monitor. By the way I highly recommend this monitor for anyone not wanting to risk any loss in performance while upgrading from anything less than high quality monitor performance at the $350 price range. I have posted the specs of this monitor above
Special thanks to eklester for posting his suggested routine of turning on the HDR feature through both Windows and MSFS. I enjoyed a stunningly visual flight from San Francisco to Concord California this afternoon. Lots of beautiful clouds (thanks to the weather fix!), latest afternoon sun, providing some gorgeous skies to enjoy the HDR graphics. The 32 inch curved display is perfect for flight simulation.
Again thanks to all, and I can mark this problem solved, noting that this issue was not a bug with MSFS but with my need for proper knowledge how to engage this graphics feature.
