Headphone Simulation Keybinds Not Working

Just spent some time trying to figure why my buttons on my controller don’t work. Should’ve come on here first.

Why show the options when they don’t work. Just remove them.

I fly vr and being able to turn off headphone simulation would be ace.

Feed-up of being a beta tester…:rofl::rofl:

Msfs 2020 by the way

October 16th Update and Headphone Simulations Keybind STILL listed as ‘Backlog’…..

Yea of course. It’s 100% reliant on completion of the new 170km radius particle accelerator currently under construction beneath Bordeaux. Unfortunately funding has frozen so we may never get it operative :frowning:

Should be a 5-minute fix, surely….

Once the particle accelerator is done, it will be a 5 nanosecond job :slight_smile:

I know teasing typos is the lowest hanging fruit, but I just can’t stop picturing verbs describing nouns but faster :laughing:

:rofl: Bloomin’ iPhone! :slight_smile:

About to finish 2025 and fix still not there

So if I’m reading the updates correctly, this item, seems to be the only one left marked as ‘Backlog’. There’s just so many IT related jokes possible with this one…

The joke is on us.

Just discovered this fantastic feature with the loud sound of the PC24 engine, and discovering that’s there is a bind for it, but It’s not working since MSFS 2020 :sweat_smile:

I actually now use this for immersion! I bought some airport ear protectors which mute sound and put them on anytime it gets too loud…

It would be nice if this works on 2024
But again, something not properly implemented more than one year after launch :+1:

No, 3 years, It was also not working in MSFS2020 :eyes:

True.
They didn’t started to fix the F/A-18 until Touching cloud launched the “Super Warrior” mod on flightsim.to :rofl:

Well, I have a solution that works for me. I switch volume between 100% and 25%, but that can be adapted to taste. I am happy with this.

I have two batch files, using NIRCMD (see below). And then I assigned the execution of the batch file to a button (I use Touch Portal, but that’s not important). To execute the batch file I use:

Start application: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe with argument:
/c “C:\Users\my_username\Documents\MSFS_2024_scripts\Headphone ON.bat”

Headphone ON.bat:

@echo off

set “NIRCMD=C:\My_Progs\NirCmd\nircmd.exe”

for /f %%P in (
‘powershell -NoProfile -Command ^
“(Get-Process FlightSimulator2024 -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue | Select-Object -First 1).Id”’
) do (
“%NIRCMD%” setappvolume /%%P 0.25
)

… and Headphone OFF.bat:

@echo off

set “NIRCMD=C:\My_Progs\NirCmd\nircmd.exe”

for /f %%P in (
‘powershell -NoProfile -Command ^
“(Get-Process FlightSimulator2024 -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue | Select-Object -First 1).Id”’
) do (
“%NIRCMD%” setappvolume /%%P 1.0
)

Does this change all the volume to 25% or just the aircraft/ambient sound? I would think the main benefit of the headphone simulation is to maintain a full-volume radio. I know those can be controlled individually in the sim UI, so not sure if a batch file like yours could manage that.

No, this only works on the overall MSFS 2024 volume. But since I am using BeyondATC, it does not matter for me. Also any other external program, e.g. for chatter or cabin announcements or music, is not affected.

Thanks - can you send this to the Microsoft Asobo Development Team? They appear to need help.
