Heli loosing altitude over oil rig platform?

It’s happening consistently so I know it’s not a one off. When approaching a platform on an oil rig everything is going fine but as soon as the heli is over the platform it gets “sucked” down hard on to the platform. I expect that it would ballon up due to the sudden ground effect but the opposite keeps happening. I am not lowering the collective when this happens and need to add more and quick. I just don’t understand the physics behind this. Any heli pilots here that can explain what is happening? Is it a bug in the msfs physics? I did not notice this until my landings started getting better and I’m trying to improve them even more.

Thanks, LouP

Well…What helicopter are you flying?

Cowansim Bell 206L3, Cowansim R66, and the new Inibuilds Westland. All three behaved the same. I was landing into the wind (per the windsock) on the oil rigs in the North Sea sold by Aerosoft.

It is this issue: [Helicopter] Abrupt induced yaw when flying over edge of elevated helipad

Something with the Asobo heli flight model. The Fly Inside choppers do not do this.

That topic says the problem has been resolved as of SU15. If so, why am I still experiencing an issue? Are updates required from the developers?

It says that, but it hasn’t really – as the problem was worse before, so it is IMPROVED but not fixed IMO. Look at the last post:

“There is still a noticeable transition” ← I think this is what you are describing.

The higher above SEA LEVEL that the new surface / ledge is, the worse the effect. It is totally weird.
