I was looking forward to starting my helicopter career today, but starting the career mode automatically starts you in a Cessna. Is it not possible to directly get your helicopter license? Can I select between fixed wing and helicopter careers? If so, where do I select this?
Looks like you gotta get your PPL in a cessna and then you can do the helicopter endorsement (as a commercial license):
There is no "Private Pilot License - Helicopter" in the sim. Great idea though!

Unfortunately I have discovered that the cost of the Rotor Commercial rating is 3,500. You start with 5,000 and your first PPL costs 2,000.
So the REALITY is that you must suffer through the Cessna 172 for PPL, Commercial, 2 first flight missions, and then 3,500 worth of commercial missions before touching a helicopter in career mode … or any other plane as far as I can tell at the moment.

And when you finally get enough credits to take your helicopter license, there are no helicopter missions available for the Cabri and you have to continue flying fixed wing to earn enough to take the turbine engine rating 
I really wish they would have made it possible to choose “career route” with the same effort needed on both sides (fixed wing and rotary)

I have suffered though 50 missions or more to finally get all the helicopter endowments except the ATPL.
I’ll have to fly another 60 to earn enough to take the exam!
