This career mode is an absolute joke of AI and lazy procedural generated garbage. In fact most of this sim is AI gen garbage. totally broken, and we paid for this frustration fest???
Respectfully OP. Can we focus on getting the big handling characteristic bugs like ground effect, and if your playing VR and not using 3rd person view you don’t have ground crew direct you when doing cargo lifts, and such figured out before the other stuff like engine type and the taxi thing. It sucks having to taxi, I agree. But the score is build back able and nothing compared to stuffing a 1.9m h125 into the ground because of an aerodynamic glitch when GE takes over on raised platforms.
I really hope they develop the missions to look like what was advertised… It really was mis sold imo… I really want to like it but the game play is frankly embarrassing…
The assets used are always the same, and very low in count at scenes, the winchman is so dumb its unreal. There’s no call outs by the winch operator, so if you want to play the ‘sim’ realistically and just be in the cockpit, you can’t because you’ve no reference as to where your winchman is in space and even is you land the winchman on the life raft, half the time he just lays down and doesn’t do anything. The characters are so wooden, they don’t interact with you, look at you or anything like they should, or like in the trailer. Its always just one casualty, next to a tent or in a life boat or next to the same orange 4x4. The downdraft of the helicopter doesn’t affect the flare so the flare just smokes out your cockpit. The survivor is always stood up in the raft clipping through the roof of it. The replayability is extremely low, its already wearing thin… Bigger scenes and being able to coordinate rescues/fire fighting missions with your friends would be an awesome addition for multiple casualties.
On a side note, fire fighting missions, I had four then none ever appear any
more. Now they fixed the cargo heli mission cargo drop accuracy, I got awarded 100% to unlock the ‘heavy heli cargo missions’ but that mission has disappeared from the map… Sometimes there’s loads of SAR missions in the alps, usually there’s 0? They keep disappearing?
Mirrors don’t seem to work on heli cargo so it’s impossible to see what you’re doing from the cockpit. Ground crew don’t give directions either or your co pilot.
I agree with all you said. It’s ridiculous how they could release this. Feels like they where in extreme hurry and let the AI make it and no quality control.
One tip for cargo. You have a vertical reference window on the floor to the right of the pilot seat. That’s for sling loading. But it’s extremely difficult to use it. It’s certainly not easy in a real helicopter either.

I have to agree. I bought this game for the career mode.
It does provide some motivation to fly, which is good, but the repetitive nature of the missions and current bugs and brokenness make the experience surprisingly frustrating and unsatisfying.
I actually want to go back to The Skypark. Sadly that doesn’t work with 2024 edition. Hopefully the new developer will update it and bring back the goodness. I want to be able to fly mission with my own aircraft, fixed and rotary, not grind to unlock the ability just to play.
I’ve noticed a similar issue with the Turbo Helicopter rating. When I load the Cert, the helicopter flops around and ultimately “crashes” the helicopter before I’ve even entered the helicopter.
The problem is that the area is riddled with trees and unless you can squeeze yourself into a spot that has just enough clearance, that doesn’t work because the game only recognizes full landings.
If not done already, this summation should be voted as a current state of the sim/a single bug to be thrown back to the developers! It is no use (and an insult) to ask the users to type in all of these individual bugs and have another couple of dozen vote on them for the Devs to even look at it. The big picture is the problem, that is, MSFS2024 was rushed out so there was next to no testing done. If it were done these bugs and our posts wouldn’t exist!
On a personal note: I have now observed major and minor bugs on just about every kind of mission there is, planes & helicopters
I don’t know what the guy does because I’m flying in VR and can’t see what’s under the helicopter.
I managed to unlock it, I hovered over the designated area for a long time, the door opened but then nothing happened, although I think the hover was stable enough. Then I had enough and left the scene, and that seemed to trigger getting the guy in the helicopter.
Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

• everytime i do a SAR mission the victim is either in the trees where you are not able to land or on a cliff site. Then when you get a SAR mission at sea you give permission to start hoist ops and the person lowers down directly on the target and then just doesnt retrieve them. Ive hovered over targets for over 15 mins and nothing even whilst reapproaching. Just incredibly frustrating.

It’s not realistic that you completely freeze, get locked out of your controls, and slide down the mountain while the person being rescued tries to get in… and tapping one little rock or nothing at all shouldn’t cause a game-over vehicle crash; it should cause damage accordingly.
