I know this forum has some wild views on this and that, but as I am one of the ones who bought, tried and returned 2024, I’m having a thought.
“What am I really missing out on?”
The biggest thing that comes to mind is the rapid loading speed of the sim at launch and into an aircraft, which is undoubtedly nice!
Yes, I miss out on a few 2024-specific aircraft, which I do miss a bit.
But beyond that?
Again, I’m flying 2020 and it looks pretty incredible. With the kind of GA flying I do, I’m a several thousand feet above the surface, so pebbles, rocks, grass, trees and animals aren’t going to be missed.
The Comanche flies really nicely, so I don’t feel like I’m really missing out on some major flight model changes. I do miss the ground handling, though.
I find the entire flight planning element of 2024 to be rather frustrating and cumbersome, plus buggy.
The automatically-selected airplane-specific controls are nice, but I don’t fly that many different types of aircraft to feel I miss that feature all that much.
I don’t think the Career Mode is going to be for me, either. It’s too scripted. If I need some direction in my flying, I can continue with my NeoFly career, which leaves the flying to me.
It is a bit weird. I was really excited about this new sim, but now that I’ve had it and let it go, I’m not sure what I’ve lost that is worthy of my tears.
For those that are still dabbling in it or are committed. What say you?
