I hadn’t noticed until tonight they added traffic matching options for mp and ai traffic in 2020, and tweaked and moved a few other menu option items around.
I find it ironic that the last few add on aircraft I bought in 2020, the Black Squares that only just came into MP for Xbox, are now some of the best bets in 24! I tried the TBM 850 and Velocity XL in 24 yesterday and they mostly work just fine. Today I will cycle through the B60 Dukes. And no walk around required! I get the best of both flight planning worlds, the new EFB and the old Navigraph/SimBrief via the GTN750. So glad I gave in and bought those in 2020 as now they are my best friends in both sims. Those and some of my old FF/LL’s now form my Cold and Dark capable aircraft list in 24. Take control of character bound to [, <] on keyboard and voila, I’m in!
For any aircraft that I fly with the Boeing TCA set-up, the 35A, airliners, etc, I go back to 2020. When I want to see my add on scenery I go back to 2020. To explore what is 24, at least I now have options beyond the default aircraft, many of which I like, but don’t like the walk around bit. The next thing is to do a deeper dive into the web based flight planner demoed yesterday. While I have tried it, there is a lot there to check out. That said, 24 is not IFR in IMC ready for me yet. Too many akward or buggy items in the way of conducting a smooth and efficient IFR flight.
I’m still going back and forth. 2024 is growing on me, but it’s a lot more work than 2020, with which I’ve had four years to develop routines, set up the way I want, and buy selected 3rd party items to improve my experience. I’m only doing free flight, so it’s mostly about the visuals. I spend as much time in 2024 with the sim paused running the showcase camera around as I do flying, which is more work than pleasure right now.
Eventually, I’ll probably wind up in 2024 exclusively, but it will be 2025 before that happens.
I’m just doing free flight and the most rudimentary navigation in 2024, don’t feel like setting up an extended flight to find something buggy 2 hours in. Problem is the colors are so far off from 2020 I’m thinking I may actually put monitor setting on each of the 2.1 input ports and physically swap the cable between them between the sims.
Don’t forget there’s seasons now. Are you comparing colors to a summer date?
Understandable. Didnt do a single flight in FS24. So many blockers abd steps back to FS20 that performs so great, and i can just fire up and use without issues. Which is not reaaly possible on FS24, mainly due to my 12GB VRAM getting spammed, half the performance, and then the other, smaller annoying things…
Im just going to enjoy FS24 to the fullest, where i have all the planes (and more to come) and all the sceneries.
We are not alone, probably not even the majority. Atleast on Steam, still more peoples on MSFS than on FS24.
No the white balance of the paint to the livery colors, window tinting, panel, etc and color depth. Can’t get it to pop. And yes brown’s a color too, let alone flying in the tropics. 2020 is hard enough to get colors right, and 2020 is always just a little weird with a sickly green world.
Then I’ll swap out to play Avatar and Lego SW, CoD and racing sims and the world is bright, sharp, and naturally colorful again. Jarringly so. 2024 seems like someones puffing the heck out of a vape in the back seat, like my eyeballs need wipers.
I did notice that what was red on an aircraft is really orange now… (My C170 N2926D livery, at least in the Library)
Now that I have had some time Neofly and has opened up in 2024, It’s going to be tough to throw this all away and restart in Career Mode. I fly the Hercules and Airbus A400 in Neofly now and own an Airline with 6 hubs. Career Mode at Cessna 172 is in the way back machine.
I’m at odds…
Exactly my experience last night. It was so much fun. I’ll try MSFS 2024 again later next year. Time to relax.
Keep torturing myself in 2024.
Went back into 2020 for my first real flight in some time. 310 loaded everything works, efb works flight planning works all peripherals worked head tracking works sound works birds work 3rd party airports and traffic and mods work ATC not the greatest but sounds like humans 300/200 4k smooth a silk, nailed my VNAV decent within 10fpm manually no problems takeoff to shutdown went perfect parked and done no issues. Felt strange to just fly a working sim.
