This is my first flight sim and I need a little help.
When I select a departure point (gate or runway) and then I select a destination airport (in this case I select a specific runway that I want to land). I would like the VFR (the map that shows my trajectory, pressing V on the keyboard) to show me the line I need to follow to land in the exact runway I selected.
Right now, the line in the map ends in the airport not in the runway, and I need to search for the runway (I don’t like to use the visual red/blue pattern guides). I need the guide line to take me to the runway I selected. I am asking this, because I recently downloaded a flight plan from a site, and loaded it in the sim and it did just that, I just followed the line and I landed in the runway selected, no need for the visual guides.
Is this possible? I hope I explained myself.
Hello Willy
As I read your post you are quite new to flightsim, so why don’t you start with FLIGHT TRAINING?
What you are asking for is not posssible, and it’s not the way things work - not at all. The plan you are mentioning makes only a straight line from A til B. You wil have to make the landing youself on the selected runway. There are different ways to do that. By yourself or by using the autopilot. If you don’t know what I mean you’ll have to look for it - try YouTube.
Exactly JorgenJuul has speak good
Excellent advice.
And also welcome.
Note: please refuse to start directly on the runway when using multiplayer / live settings as this might ruin the immersion for everyone else.
Edit: what you can try is to manually set waypoints for your departure / approach. Keep in mind that this might interfere with other traffic and restrictions so have a look on the charts when planning your route. For real departure and arrival routes you might want to use IFR instead. A whole different topic with a completely different set of rules.
You need to set an IFR plan, not GPS direct to get the std departure and arrival waypoints on the map.
For VFR flight plans, I do the following. After selected departure and arrival runway, I go to filters on the map and turn on ‘Navaids’ and ‘VOR’. Many airports will have navaids leading right into the runway. You can click the icon and press ‘ADD’ it will add it to your flight plan. Usually this is how I fly right into the runway.
Hope this helps you out.
Thanks everybody for the answers!
This is what I want:
I downloaded this flight plan from flightsim.to and it goes directly to the runway.
01 - IFR PALMAHIM AB (LL59) TO HAIFA (LLHA).PLN (5.1 KB)
I think if on the FS2020 flight planning screen you select IFR (low altitude airways or high altitude airways) and then choose an ILS approach you would get the full route you are looking for ?
